Default FIXED:: LED Turn Signals

UPDATED BELOW

Ok, I've searched and searched. Tons of information about the xB/xA, but none about the tC on this topic.

So, I replaced all my turn signal bulbs with LEDs from superbrightleds.com. I didn't want the hyperblinking, and I didn't want to use load resistors because of the heat. I wanted this to be as plug-and-play as possible so I bought the LED flasher relay from superbrightleds.com as well.

Anyways, it's the correct relay (fits the connector) but none of the turn signal lights come on (hazard or turn signal mode). I hear clicking from the new relay, just no lights.

Any ideas? Anyone use the flasher relay with success for a tC?

Before you respond, note that I have a lot of experience with electronics, but I've never done a LED turn signal replacement before.

***************************UPDATE*************************

FIXED!!

It was the relay I bought from superbrightleds.com. It had a broken solder point on BOTH of the lines that feed the voltage to the lights. Luckily they had a schematic of the flasher on their website so I could see the pin-outs of our flashers.

Anyways, I've got all LEDs now for the turn signals and they flash at the correct rate!

If anyone else wants to do it, here are the parts you'll need from superbrightleds.com:

Quantity: 1
Product: LED bulb Flasher Unit $ 12.95 (each)
Options: CF18-08

Quantity: 3
Product: 7440-15 LED bulb $ 6.99 (each)
Options: Amber

Quantity: 3
Product: 7440-15 LED bulb $ 6.99 (each)
Options: White 2.00

I ordered an extra Amber and White just in case. These are direct replacements and you don't need to splice a load resistor into your factory wires.

I think to do a Quality LED tail light job you need to do a Retro-fit of the Tails!...I got the LED bulbs and they didnt work right either!!...Had to go back to Halogens!

The LEDs themselves are fine. I checked them. Now all I have to do is figure out how to keep them blinking fast.

I'm working on it! It would probably be better with a movie. You really can't tell the diff between LED and the OEM bulbs with a pic.

I'll get a short movie and some pics of them installed.

why did you buy the white leds? the rear turn signals?

its funny, i just bought the exact same stuff from superbrightleds.com but havent done the mod yet cause im waiting for my new tails and head lights to come ine. will i have a problem with the flashing rate (using the flash unit) if i use amber leds in the heads, but keep the stock turn bulbs in the tails?

If you keep the stock bulbs in the tails, and put LEDs up front, just use the stock flasher. It's probably going to blink fast, but you could damage the new flasher if you use normal bulbs with it.

The white LEDs are for the tails. I have TYC tail lights, but I'm sure it's the same with the stock tails.

is it a must to use the SBL relay if i'm just doing the 2 headlight turn signals? i'm trying to get rid of the orange reflection in the turn signals and those piaa chrome bulbs are wayyy to expensive.
also, while i'm at it, does anyone have any experience with the Pilot chrome bulbs?

those led's kinda suck IMHO if your gonna do it, and not do a led retro, you should put in decent bulbs. shoulda went w/ these http://autolumination.com/7443_7440.htm any one of those will crush the stuff you bought. more expensive? yeah, there's a reason for it. those will be the closest to brightness of a incandecent bulb.

my main beef w/ your setup is your front turns.. you have no relection to the front or back, which you so desperatly need as the bulbs are perpendiclular to the viewer.. the smt tower ll's would be a decent upgrade for those. the tails i would put in the eagle eye towers. as the stock brake bulb shoots directly into the reflector, the 5mm's you gave dont have the viewing angle needed to get aroudn the opaqeness of the reflector and still be noticable visible.

id like to see the factory flasher put in and stock front bulb on one side and the led on the other w/ the hazzards on.. that would thoroughly prove my point which i think im 99% right on.. the other 1% is for doubt as i havent seen those bulbs in action but have seen MANY 5mm drop ins that sucked the presidental ****

I'm pretty flippin dim my man... Thinking about swapping back.
I'm assuming since i swapped out the flasher relay thats why i'm not lighting up when I hit the keyless lock. I'll check out that link a little later & see what lights I may need to get a better light output.
