Default Headlight Bulb for 2005 Scion tC..

Recently, I noticed my Headlights do not seem bright while driving.

Are there any bulb replacement options recommended to get better illumination?

Thanks for the recommendation. I was reading Amazon reviews, and it seems that
several people remarked that the life expectancy of these bulbs were short (1-2 yrs).

Is this an accurate assessment?

There's always some variations, Such as Sylvania's 3-6 month lifespan with some lasting twice as long as others. I'd say these are closer to 3-yrs. Well worth it for better output.

Installation precautions must be taken. Cleaning off bulbs with acetone to remove oils from surface. Never touching bulbs with fingers; wear cotton gloves, etc.

How are your headlight lenses? Are they clear or are they all yellow and cloudy? If the lenses aren't clear, polish them up and that should help tremendously. If they are clear already, upgrading bulbs will help. Can run quality LEDs in reflector housings (Morimoto, Diode Dyamics, etc) but I wouldn't run HIDs there - too much chance to create glare for oncoming traffic.

drizzoh, good point about the headlights lens. i will need to polish/clean those up. i haven't done that for the past decade.

DannoXYZ, thanks for the warning about the installation. is there a write up on precautions that I need to take? I have never cleaned the bulb with acetone before.

here's a guide: https://www.military.com/off-duty/au...-bulb.html/amp

I've found that acetone does better job of degreasing fingerprints from bulbs. Especially if they've been sitting around for while. Vendors that do not manufacture their own bulbs are worse offenders as they don't have direct control over QA.

Top-quality bulbs come from Flösser, Narva, Toshiba, Osram, Philips, Vosla.
