so would i get less light with hids in my stock 08 headlights than i do now with the halogens?

it might be brighter but not for a good reason. cheap bulbs will put strain on your's and others eyes.

Actually my '08 has great visibility with HID's. Even when the projectors had the original halogen bulbs in them they had a horrible cut-off. With the HID kit in I adjusted the hight of the cut-off to avoid glare. The retarded SONAR ebay projectors I had on my Ram even had a better cut-off than the stock '08 tC headlights.
