Default HIDs in cold weather

Is anyone else having issues with their HIDs taking a little while to turn on when it is really cold outside? Mine take about 30 seconds to about 2 minutes to turn on. I'm sure its the ballast causing it, but is there a cure?

I got them from HIDExtra when they were on sale. They're brand new, less than 4 months on them. I installed them myself, with a relay kit. That's all I can think of is the ballasts are just too cold to fire up. THis was happening at about 19 degrees or so.

mine were from mobilehid and they would take a little while to fire up in the cold (below 30) after about 5 months or so of use

i have hidextra 6k hids,i really never counted how fast mine come on,but i say within a few secs of me putting them on,usually if it were a bad ballast the bulb wouldnt even light up,if the relay was bad, theres fuses on the relay that can be replace,or the bulb itself, could be having issues igniting...

I contacted HIDExtra and they say the ballasts should light instantly at temps as low as -20. If its -20, I'm not going out of the house anyways!!!

Either way, the lights do eventually come on. Its just a little annoying sitting there in the car with the light switch on, and no lights.

That sounds annoying as hell. Sounds like you need new ballasts. Good thing HID's are so cheap. I have HIDextra's but can't remember how long the warranty is. Try and get some replacements.
