Default Obsidian Body Kit

Anyone know how much it costs to get that body kit on the car? and do you have to repaint the whole car? or can you just paint the kit? I need full detail on this kit, I want to get it buy want to know what i need to do when i get it to have it looking right.

If you go widebody and really do want to have it look right... plan on getting new wheels with a better offset (to push the wheels farther out to the sides of the kit, instead of the car). Or get a set of spaces.

all depends on how good the person is who's gonna paint the car....1 thing with the color of Flint Mica it is really hard to match trust me..not an easy task..

but for a decent paint job and install i say be looking around 1000 at the least

there's a thread on here about the bad fitment of the obsidian kit, so i would guess there would be some extra money involved to get the fitment right. but done well, the obsidian kit is by FAR the best looking kit available, imho.

I will own the AIT Racing WBK, sometime this year, but the work that goes into it isnt much but there are some things that have to be bought/changed so a Wide Body Kit will fit well.. I dont know much about the Obsidian, but if its anything like the AIT you will have to cut the Fenders to bring your wheels out to be flush with the sides of the kit. Which might mean wider/bigger rim application(Normally 19's to look right... Once you cut them there is no going back to stock unless you do extensive body repairs. Getting into a WBK application does take time, LOTS OF $$$, and patience for a prefect fit. As for using this as a daily driver, i wouldnt suggest it. If you are going to spend 1-3000 on a WBK application then spend 2-3000 on wheels and tires that will fit, then using it as a daily driver might be costly if you run into problems down the road. Most people i know who have a WBK application either have problems with using it as a daily driver, or have good luck with how they take care of it. you need to check it alot to make sure everything is right. Now there are a few that have never had any probs and say that everything is alright, but i am sure these are the same guys that HAVE the $$$ to make those adjustments when needed.

I am not trying to change you mind, because i am not after knowing these details, but just beaware that when going WBK there are many changes you have to take in attitude toward the care of your vehicle. The last thing you need is a F'ing dumbass messing with your ride, or door dings/body dings at your local market. If you have to take that part off to fix it, you might be withut your car for a while. Again, just a percaution with a daily.. I plan on (if i can) parking mine, and making a sleeper just for shows... We will see... Just rememebr have patience with this kind of change, because you WILL NEED IT......

Also you mentioned you have a set of staggard rims? That wont cut it unless they have the correct offset. For example the AIT Racing WBK called for 19x8.5 at an 0 offset. Rememebr that different widths also have different offsets as well.. With that 0 offset the rims were pretty flush with the outer edge of the new WBK... The obsidian doesnt look much different, and most rims i have seen on them are the 19x8.5 rims in at or close to a 0(zero)-offset. Make sure ou do your research BEFORE you buy new rims for your ride. IF you buy a spacer for a 35 offset rim, you are looking at a 30-35 mm spacer to push them out, and i havent heard many good things about spacers that big.... Good Luck..... LAter.

Yea you will definetly have to repaint most of if not all of the car. I'm an autobody technician at a VA dealership and I've done quite a few kits on the side. Widebody kits and especially the Obsidian kit should be molded into the fenders/ quarters and the sideskirts into the rockers. This is done by using fiberglass and bodyfiller to make the kit one with the cars metal.

So basically both quarters would need paint as well as both fenders since the kit is now a part of these pieces. Technically, you don't have to paint the hatch, doors or hood. But any halfway decent painter will insist on painting those areas as well. The reason is that to get a good color match these areas should be painted at the same time rest of the car is, or at least used to blend the new paint into the old paint.

Go to this site: http://www.krazykustomzonline.com/ga...&g2_itemId=473

They have TONS of step by step pics of the Obsidian install. If you don't see them on the link, email them and they'll give you the right link within a day or two.

We have the Obsidian TC widebody Ver. 2 kit arriving next week. We designed and prototype the first obsidian kit and know about the fitment issues. This version 2 kit is reworked so that fitment is better and is going to be available in Flex Fiber. We have limited quantities coming in. Due to the limited quantites arriving we are not putting the kit on our website, just give us a call at 916-683-5487 for pricing and availability.

Thanks
