Default Removing unecissary weight, hazardous?

Not sure if this is the correct place for this post, so i apologize if it isn't.

Car: 2006, Scion tC.

Alright so I was thinking of taking a couple things off, but I'm not sure if it will make things very dangerous. For starters, I like the way headers look and even though it's very minimal weight I was thinking about removing the heatshield that is covering the headers. Is this going to cause the paint on my hood to bubble? Has anyone done it and left it and ran it at 130 mph speeds? I probably won't take any of this off until I'm 90%ish sure that i'll be alright lol. Onto the next one - the firewall under the hood, (the one attached to the underneath of the hood). Good idea or bad idea to remove? (please give reasons or examples or proof or something!) I have a bit more but I think these two should do it for now. Please don't give me some java on how I'm an idiot for wanting to learn.
-Thanks, Dice

You will see VERY minimal benefits (if any) from removing the heatshield.... why bother?

I wouldn't remove the firewall.. for safety issues. If you want to shave some weight, you can remove the back seat and change your front seats w/ light aftermarket ones. Shave more by stripping out the trunk and spare tire.

Why do you want to lighten up anyway?

Many people run aftermarket headers, and the are all shieldless, so nothing bad should happen...dunno about the firewall, i would keep it for safety..

not to mentions tC's are electronically limited at 127... so your 130mph speeds can't actually happen

if you want to remove weight, gut your rear etc..

but small stuff like that is better to leave to serve it's purpose, i'd leave the hood shield on, but the header one you could take off, and you could even wrap the headers if you wanted too.

actually that will make the car too light in the rear, and make it easy to spin out, if you remove weight make sure its balanced between the front and rear.

taking out the seats and spare tire, will get your car to accelerate a tiny bit faster at the expense of screwing up the handling.

Well optional I said 130mph speeds to exagurate the heat that the headers will give off. I wanted to know if removing teh heatshield will cause any harm to the car what-so-ever in any conditions. The main reason why I want to remove it is because it looks really pathetic when you have this heatshield that says don't touch and it looks ugly under the hood. Headers look so nice w/o a heatshield so i was wondering if i could remove it. As for the firewall pretty much the same thing. Maybe i should of choose better words when I was asking about weight but I really meant that i wanted to know what else could be done to remove the weight. Alright well thanks guys i appreciate all the posts - dice

Please post more if you have good info.

FYI to remove a firewall you have to gut the entire car. The padding under the hood in which you speak is a simple sound deadening material that weighs all of 1.1 pounds. The only thing it will do will make your car SLIGHTLY louder outside the engine compartment.

The people behind that picture have a sign that says Taiwan is something lol. Seriously though, this is a thread. At least I got decent answers from the people who didn't mind answering a very simple question. & I did search the forums for something like this but it was all turbo related when it came to the heatshield. I think half the people that posted think I'm going to be like "oh i'm so cool look at my heatshieldless headers, they rock so hard" lol if that's what you think of me cool. Alright well i got the answers I want so thanks for those who had a sense of maturity.
