Default 2.4 VVTL-i?

I was curious as to whether this type of engine is feasible? I know Toyota has the 1.8 liter making 180hp, so I was wondering if this technology was possible in a larger displacement format (or if this is only best in lower displacement engines). If so, what kind of power could it make?

If you want an example of the power the 2AZ would make in VVTL-i form, look no further then Honda's K24A2, the engine in the TSX. It puts out around 160 lbs-ft of torque, like the 2AZ, but has a much higher top-end, at 200hp. But, like our engine, its redline is low comparatively speaking to other free revving engines such as the K20 and the 1ZZ. So yes, having dual cam profiles as well as electronically controlled cam timing adjustments is possible on an engine with our displacement.

would this be a simple head swap? not saying the gts head will swap with us, but would this be all that would be reqd, along with a new or modified wiring harness?

We have low RPMS because the motor is a larger I4. Skyline motors are only .2L larger but in a 6-cylinder so the stroke and pistons are much smaller, resulting in a higher top end.

If you want a higher reliable redline, de-stroke the motor to a 2.2

That is awesome! The tC would rock with a 6-speed.
