Hey guys. New to this website. Hard working family man here needing some help with my wife's car. I was driving to work the other day. Noticed that the heat wouldn't work that morning only blowing cool air which I already thought was weird. Anyway I drove about 8 miles, got to smelling something weird and then when I see a little bit of smoke coming up from the hood I pulled off while it died and starting smoking real good for a second while I stopped. Anyways, what had happened there was I blew the bearings on the water pump and threw the belt. I got it pulled home and just replaced the water pump today. Now it will crank but I can't feel a load behind the cranking and it just sounds like a power drill. Hoping it didn't jump time because I don't know anything about that. Its getting fuel.
Any help is appreciated. Thank you.

@TristonRMitchell Hi, Usually when driving on high temperature engine, there are many other things to check after that:
according to my car mechanic:
1. Check the oil level and quality / Replace the engine oil and filter.
2. Check the spark plugs (replace if needed).
3. The idle air control valve, must the cleaned inside (there is a small pipe coming from the coolant that may be compromised - after all that situation may be clogged).
Clean also the output small pipe that going back to the cooling system.
I respond to your question because I had that problem in the past with my Scion xB 2004. After that I end-up getting me a new radiator cap that have a thermometer ($6 free shipping).
Here in this platform are many experienced mechanics. Even that now they have holidays will respond to you later.
Happy Passover!!!
This is the new cap radiator with thermometer. I never go out there to check the temperature! My interior heater gives hot air out (140 Fahrenheit) in the cabin.
Are you saying that when you crank and try to start the engine it sounds like the starter is not under much load? My next question would be exactly how hot did the engine get before you turned it off? If it got REALLY hot, I would suggest you run a compression test to make sure the rings didn't collapse or you blew a head gasket. Will it start and run at all?
