Default 2007 Scion tC Burn Out Question..

I have 2007 tC and yesterday i did a peel out with the e-brake up and only the right wheel spun. I tried it again shortly after and this time only the left wheel spun.

Any idea as to why it would go from one to the other like that? I thought that even though it doesn't have an LSD that both wheels still spin.

With an open diff the power is limited to the path of least resistance.

In my tC I have a automatic so I went in reverse and then threw it in drive going very slow and it squealed the tires then I pull the e brake
and it burned out I tried this again a couple days later and my car would pull forward and not stay still to burn out.

Anyone know how to make this way work again or any other good ways?

I've an idea, stop trashing your transmission. If your parents bought your car for you that's not a nice way of respecting them and if you bought it yourself, that's not a fiscally wise thing to do.

There are far better ways of doing a burnout. One of the worst ways is a N-D drop. I can't believe you're doing a R-D drop. Do yourself a favor and quit trying to be cool because one day you're bound to hurt yourself, your 17k+ dollar car, and even worse, someone else. If you absolutely need to do a burnout you're probably best off power braking and dumping it. But for your parents' sake, don't.

BTW, learn to spell. The least one can ask of a 16 yr old who gets a brand new tC is to use what he's learned for the past decade or so.

^Yeah^ Burnouts may be fun to do, but they put lots of unneccessary stress on the engine and drivetrain. Not to mention that you're greatly reducing the useable life of your tires.

It's also illegal.

You should really do some reading before attempting to do stuff where you have no idea what the end result will be...... front wheel drive = unequal length shafts that drive front wheels........ you can figure out the rest.

Let's continue to give other tC owners a bad name and try it some more!

The R-D drop is simply amazing. I predict new tranny in a few thousand miles for someone if they drive it like that. Not to mention it sounds like the ebrake already needs adjusting after doing it since it wont hold the car any longer.

The real cause of this is because of the open differential, not so much the length of the driveshafts. The difference in driveshaft length is more related to torque steer problems.

Or maybe your tC can be like mine where you just floor it in first and it will start burning the tires w/o having to dump it.

Yeah, I know that....... since someone already posted the LSD part, I thought I could add the unequal shaft thing....... somewhat goes together with launching and burning out.

Burnouts are meant to warm up the tires before racing, not to waste rubber.....

Both tires Spinning and no LSD http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=niVja-yZDK0

If that's not a way to respect our car, then I guess I really screwed up when I did this... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bZA3asa19Wg

PS...it's not my car, it's my fiance's car. I have a Touring edition 350Z (6spd of course).
