Guys,
I need a temporary engine while I rebuild the engine in my tC.
I found a 2.4L 2AZ-FE from a 2015 xB for a really good price.

I was wondering if this would work as a direct replacement.

The xB engine should work as a direct replacement with you only having to swap the valve cover, timing chain cover, oil pan, Intake and Exhaust Manifold, and possibly reusing some of the engine wiring/plugs. I might have missed somethings, but as a short answer, yes the engine will work as a replacement but you will need to reuse some parts from your original tC engine.
