300hp all natural.

if your gonna do a motor swap why not just do a swap with a more powerful four cylinder?(the v6 is to big and most likely wont fit, even if it did there are more powerful v6 motors out there as well, 2jz swap.. ;) )...
batjew: if i went out and bought a turbo (turbonetics) there is my 300hp, and if my calculations that a hell of a lot cheaper than buying car with 300hp,and alot more orginal
Turbocharging a car is not original. And the 2JZ is an I-6.
I think it will fit, I just dont have the time or money to waste to bother looking into it. I'd rather go work on the Rx-7.

Ya know, just because you buy a crazy V8, doesn't mean you can't modify THAT too! And believe me, when we gawk at 8whp from a race header... the v8 guys are looking at 20-30 minimum for essentially the same modification on the larger motor.
I know.... "then why'd did he buy a tC if he loves V8's so much"... well, 'cause I bought this car with my own money, and $18,000 for a 23 year old is on the upper limit of what I can financially handle when you throw in insurance and everything else.
Please don't get discouraged.... modify whatever you want and have fun with it.... but before anyone gets any ideas, know that we're still ____ants in the racing world

2jz? are you kidding? the motor would stick out the fender on the tc.
camry v6 would be very cool, it will fit.
P.s there is a 5 speed for it

Oh... even the universal-engine-bay honda swaps aren't a walk in the park for a backyard mechanic... so semi-experimental, non-universal swaps are pretty well out of the question for anyone but corporate sponsored racecars

I do like the camry v6 idea... they should put it in the tC's replacement, and HOPEFULLY IN A REAR-DRIVE FORMAT, SIMILAR TO THE OUTGOING IS300... hint, hint toyota.
In response to my previous post and all of this talk about nitrous. I still hold that to have a 300 hp car without major internal modifications you are going to spend thousands more than what you are going to actually get. Just get a G35, with 300 daily driveable hp, and save yourself a major headache. Let us not forget that toyota put a grocery getting motor in a sporty car.
Can it be done, sure. I read an article about a 400 hp ford focus that whopped a zo6 vette on the track too. Problem was the focus had about $125k in mods, and the vette was stock at $55k, get the point.
Hell, the new 500 hp blown mustang is only going to be like 45k new.

I won't be shocked, because anyone can throw money at something until it works.
The problem is that in this instance, it would take a very profound amount to make it happen. In the process, you will lose anything that relates to daily driveability and you'll have to resort to trailering it around.
But hey, you're making as much power as a Mustang GT with bolt-ons. So it's worth it, right?

I bet to get 300 N/A HP outta a 2az-fe you're gonna have to replace so much of it with new, expensive stuff that it'll hardly be a 2az-fe anyomre. And I agree that the DD aspect will be tossed out the window.
So it's expensive and difficult. It drives like crap around town and gets bad mileage. Is it an awe inspiring feat? I think so. IF I had the resources, talent, and another car to drive around in, I'd try gettin' it done.
Why?
If nothing else. bragging rights.

You drive a 18k front-drive sport compact.
He drives a 25k+ rear-drive sports car.
I could have a lot more fun with a stock c5 vette (55k) than I'd ever have with a race-modified scion tc.
At some point, you realize... it's not JUST the power issue (which in itself, is huge). It's the layout of the car, the design of the chassis, the weight balance, the steering responsiveness, etc. etc.
Sports cars are inherantly designed to do what we're trying to make our sport compact do! Why not just save yourself the trouble and purchase the better platform from the start, and then the sky's the limit !
And at an hour past the end of the day, it's YOUR car so do whatever the hell you want with it.
Why live life with a stock car? There are thousands of reasons. Why mod your car? There are hundreds of reasons. But ultimately, it's a personal reason. I'm tired of people telling others to buy faster stock cars. Sure, it makes more sense, but if sense had anything to do with anything we'd almost all be driving straight up two or three cylinder economy cars.
So whatever moves YOU, do it.
But that's not to say stop offering advice. For all the people who ask the question, "how do I make 300 hp and still have a reliable car?" To them, yes, buy a faster stock car. But to think that answer suits everyone, is ridiculous.

Also, if you have nitrous you still have a car that is 160 hp for all intents and purposes. Only when you hit that magic little button do you get the extra push, and you cannot do it all the time. On a stock block with stock internals you are increasing the ware and tear 100 fold. With FI (essentially) you have the power all the time (under boost conditions). Either way youre gonna have to put a ton of money into the car. 5k for a good turbo setup, or a significant engine rebuild with nitrous and the long term costs associated with each. I (personally) would rather put up the money at the begining and get a more expensive car. Hell, look at the new 2 door altima, or the mazda speed 6 or speed 3. But, for the money you cannot beat the Tc and the performance is not too bad either.
