Default about shift *****...

Well its getting hot as hell again here in Vegas.

And I have a metal shifter **** from the short-shifter from Megan racing I bought, and I was trying to reinstall that ugly OEM **** so I don't burn my palms while shifting but, I seem to be having a problem on my shift boot when I install the OEM ****...

OK! IT TWIST MY BOOT AND LOOKS DAMN UGLY when twisted! I want to know how you peeps reinstall your OEM ***** on your short shifter???

I'd like to know the "FIX"?

thanks!!!

I have the Megan SS with the stock **** for now. When I twisted the stock **** down I just held the shift boot in place until everything was nice and tight. However, the **** doesn't fit as tight as it did on the OEM shifter. I'd like to buy the Sparco Globe-X here soon.

instead of havin to switch back just get a windsheild sun visor thing for when you park ur car all day - it may not be stylish(you could get a custom cool one :D) but it does the job for sure!

also, what i have done if just take a scratchless towel or something and put it over the shifter while ur not in ur whip so it doesnt get as hott!

i have used both these techniques for burn free hands!

Why change your ****? Find something to cover the **** while you drive. I use the little bag that my Oakley sunglasses came in and put it over the **** when it gets hot.

All you guys that responded with "cover the ****" have good ideas, but you don't live in Vegas. Thats ish don't work. It aint even bad yet, but in the middle of summer, with 15% tint, sun shade, all that, my temp guage reads 125!

Anyway, what you need to do is take off the whole assembly.
Then, fold the top of the boot down into the shift **** and put the chromish ring back on about 1.5 inches from the top. If you look at the DIY shift instructions in the tech section, you'll know what I'm talking about.

yea, i used to use GLOVES to shift with my prelude. or suck it up and do that slap the shifter type move. whered youd hit it into the right gear and tap the steering wheel to the direction you wanna go.

you COULD wrap it but you have to wrap it in like 5 million layers of something haha

I recently bought a **** from www.doctorisotope.com, made out of delrin plastic. It's amazing how neutral the temperatures are compared with my old metal obx ****. I know it hasn't been as hot as NV, but my interior has seen between 20 degrees and 110 degrees, and the **** gets to "hand temperature" in about 5 seconds after touching it.

Wow, I didn't realize how many scion lifers were in Vegas!
Anyway, I got the chrome shiftknob with my Creative Compacts short shifter. But by the time they sent those out, it was summer. I never even put it on.
Leather is the way to go, but that doctorisotope one sounds pretty slick. I might check that out. How is the grip and fitment of it, and how much did it cost?

Try a monsterknob from monsterknobs.com I had to switch from a metal **** because of the ungodly cold that was here late winter... The monster ***** don't get too cold or too hot and look/feel great. Other than that, when screwing in the ****, just hold the boot still or try twisting it a little bit the opposite direction so that when the final turn used to tighten the **** is made, it will be straight.
