Default Air filter and fuel efficiency

I replaced the stock air filter last week with a TRD one (auto tC at about 25,000 miles). Now i'm getting about 31 mpg (356 miles with 11.4 g. fillup). It was averaged 29.5 mpg...just FYI

Pretty cool!

I'm putting a CAI on next week, I'll be posting my findings
about a month after that!

(Note: I keep track of EVERY fuel fill up in a "flight log", I can
even tell you what time I filled up and how much it costed
three months ago!)

Where did you get your trd filer? I was about to buy one today from trdsparks, but thought it was a bit too expensive 49.95. If i'm going to get better fuel mileage, i'm sold.

I got it from www.mcgeorgeparts.com; make sure you get the cleaning kit too. I was thinking about getting 4 stock AF, but thought that since it's reusable, i can clean it at every 20k miles (instead of 30k recommended in service manual)...check out the following thread for pics and more details,

I also just got Secret Weapon R intake and it seems like I'm getting better mileage. It could just be my imagination but I'll measure the milage next time I fill up the tank!

Does anybody know whether there is much of a difference between trd's high performance air filter and K&N's replacement air filter?? I couldn't really reach a conclusion reading other threads on this topic. They do seem very similar though, but i've never seen either up front.

I'm watching this thread intently. Any feedback on all of your findings is appreciated.

I haven't done an intake yet, but for what it's worth, since I put on a TRD exhaust, my MPG has gone up about 1 mile per tank.
