Default Alternator Bearing...?

Has anyone dealt with their alternator bearing going out? Yes I've searched already for some similar story on here, no luck. I have an 07 tC with 75000 miles on it. If any of you have a torque damper, the sound coming from the alternator sounds just like a torque damper or poly engine mounts would in the cab. Only occurs from idle to about 3k rpm. I removed my damper just to make sure it wasn't it. So, warranty item? I have the extended 100k mile warranty.

So no replies yet? Anyways, went to the stealership this morning to get a second opinion, turns out it's the water pump that's gone bad and that it's not covered under warranty. Despite how they have notoriously gone out on tC's and Camry's. Kind of ticked on the issue, but what can you do? Looks like I'll be replacing it myself. Anyone else dealt with this issue?

Never heard of water pumps being an issue on the tC's honestly.

Water pumps have been a problem in a lot of Toyota's for years. Its almost a chronic problem on 90's 4Runners, the Prius had a water pump recall a few years ago, and the tC's need them changed eventually, and many before 100K. With the tC's, some last for 5+ years others go out a lot sooner. Its hit or miss.

My '05 just started leaking last month. New one is on the way. Never had any noise or idle issues from it. Dealership wanted to fix it for 500 bucks. A Bosch OEM replacement is 70+ bucks and a DIY job. Although you can find other brands for MUCH cheaper. I posted a thread a week ago with a link to the DIY in it: https://www.scionlife.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=203474

I think this happens in the Spring time when the heat and humidity shock the cooling system into working overtime after taking it easy all winter. Just a guess though...

I understand water pumps, and toyota's problems in the past with them. You can say every car will need the pumped changed eventually, its a wear item. What I am saying is there is not a mass water pump problem that has ever been documented with any Scion's or tC's on any of the forums. I understand that does not speak for every owner, but saying they "notoriously" go out on the tC is plain false. Thats the point I'm making. Does suck that yours went out, good luck.

Almost the entire VVTi line up has weak water pumps or water pump problems. A simple google search would yield this information.
