Default AWD might be possible?

Im looking at the new 2009 matrix...and one of the options for it is a 5 SPEED AWD drivetrain....hmmm its powered by the same engine as the tC. obviously you can do anything if you have the money. But with out doing tons of modification do you think its possible to make this switch? 4 speed auto (fwd) vs. 5 speed auto (awd) with active torque control...hmmm.

sell the tC. by the matrix. turbo the nuts out of it and show the STI and EVO kids what a real battle wagon is.

It would cost too much money for an average person to want to do that.

the AWD in the matrix's *even the new 09 model* is not a true AWD. the rear wheels only become active when the front see some sort of slippage, when they do the ECU locks in the rear to take over 50% power during that period of instability. once the ECU notices all wheels have grip again, AWD is disengaged back to FWD.

if you want true AWD, use the all trac drive train from the ST185 or ST205 and use an adaptive plate for the bell housing to fit correctly.

EDIT: actually, seems using a E153 is more possible for you tC peeps then i thought being the manual tC's use a E350 anyway. it's an E series so theoretically it should bolt right up to the 2AZ.

i was just at toyota half hour ago and those matrix are over $23k and i doubt it had awd so think how much more you'd pay over a tc if he bought one.

I want to do the RWD conversion like the Toyo Formula D Tc. I've seen that in action and it is nuts.
