I am debating about getting either a CAI (Fujita5 bronze) or short throw shift kit (trd) for my car.

Lowdown: Living in MN with an upcoming winter, dd car, and I autoX.

--I will eventually buy both, I just wanna get through another autoX event without bumping up classes, but am unsure whether the shift kit will be that drastic of a change

any insight is greatly appreciated from people who autoX

IMO CAI will not be enough of a benefit so, go TRD shifter

 

Hhhhmmmm.....never auto-x but guess it just depends on what you looking for. You want better/faster shifts or do you want a lil more power? If you do the short shifter then get Doc-I's shifter bushings......you wont regret it!!!

 

If the TRD doesn't offer the bushing swap, I would look to buy the Doc I's complete GearSwitcher Extreme instead of the TRD. What a bummer.

 

get the short throw shifter cause the cai wont do anything....short shifter will get you into gears faster

 

Short throw, and definately check out doctor I, what I got and have loved it ever sicne I put it on.

 

I have the TWM Stage 1 with the cage and cable bushings. Worth its weight. the CAI is not.

 

^ Agreed. You won't get much power out of the CAI for its price.

 

Quick shifter! You'll eventually end up getting both anyways. If you go with TRD make sure you also get some Cable bushings from Doc I. You will definitely feel a better bite with each shift.

I'm actually pretty interested now in the Doc I's shifter because it appears that kit comes with a set of the cable bushings with the Gear Switcher Extreme and the pricing is difficult to match.

 

Yep......Doc-I has everything you need.......plus you get some money back when you send your OEM shift assembly back to him!
