Default CEL issues on new 2 me tC

Hi everyone,

Im down with the flu and high on meds so I am going to try and make the most sense. I have an 05 tC. I got it Dec. 28th with 85,XXX miles on it. Next day went and had oil switched to Mobil 1 5w/30 or whatever was on the cap. The next morning my CEL light was on. Went to FAPS and they told me I had a loose fuel cap and turned off the CEL. About a day later CEL came back on when i started the car up for the first time in the morning has remained on. The turn on at cold start was the same way it came on the first time. Went back to FAPS and they told me the code was "large vacuum leak detected" Anyone have any clue where I should start looking? I am trying to avoid going to the stealership

probably the gas cap. re-tighten it and if the CEL keeps coming on, replace the gas cap.. no more than $30-$40 bucks at most..

my 05 was throwing the same code, i replaced the gas cap and reset it and it never came back. so i would suggest replacing the gas cap.

replacing the gas cap would prolly be the cheapest way out, if u do this and the issue continues, u can always have a smoke test done to see if any of ur evap system is leaking. u are the 2nd owner so who knows what the other person did or didnt do.

Yeah, same here, just got a new gas cap. Like 35 bucks at the dealership.
