Default Cold starts

My 2006 tC seems to struggle with starting as the weather begins to colder. I'm worried when full blwon winter sets in will this car start? Has anyone had issues with slow/difficult starts with their tC when it's cold?

When I purchased my tC, it seemed to not want to start immediatley when the weather's cold. It'll start just fine... It's a f'ing toyota!

My 06 used to have random starting hesitations. It's much better now. It should work itself out as you get some miles on it. And I find it also helps if you use regular gas.

I also have the slight hesitance, but just let it sit after it's started and warm for about 3-5 minutes. That should be plenty to get the oil flowing. I use 0W/30 and it's a bit easier than when I first got it. Don't pump the pedal thinking it will help. That's only on carberated cars, not Fuel injected ones. Just a little tip.

mine has "trouble" sometimes. even in not that cool weather. it'll struggle, but it will always turn over....not sure what exactly could be the cause tho.

Yeah, mine's warm or cold weather also. It's probobly got a low torque starter on it or there's a low current running to the factory starter not giving it the full amount of power it would need right from the start. The starter relay could have something to do with this, but it's nothing to worry about.

I have problems in the hot and cold. A lot of times if I don't let it crank long enough, I can't start it. I have to take the key out and wait for about 30 seconds and try again.

it might also depend wat octane ur running, if its higher then its "harder" for the car to start...

Not sure about that though. The initial start is coming from the battery rather than the fuel pump. The injectors don't begin spraying until the first motion of the crank/rods/piston/cam and that doesn't start until the starter kicks the flywheel over, which doesn't start until the battery power is delivered to it. I really think it's something to do with the power deliver from the ignition switch to the starter via the relay. Might have too much of a restriction.

If it is cranking slow and sluggish, it is related to the electrical side (starter, etc). If it cranks fine but does not start, it is in the realm of ignition, fuel, etc. I have never seen a toyota that starts on the first crank in the cold. But I have also rarely seen them totally fail to start. Dont worry if it cranks a couple of times before starting. That is just toyota. If it cranks very slow or has a hard time cranking over, you need to check your charging system first (a quick check is to make sure it is producing approx 14.5 V while running) and then your battery.
