LMAO - no way you did that much damage hitting a curb at 5mph. Just saying. Either you were going 40+ or this mechanic is screwing you.

i can understand the diff between curbing a rim and slide into a curb.
knid of like a straight line vs. a 90 degree angle.
but 5mph still seems way to slow to do that much damage.

maybe you shouldve stayed where you were instead of attempting to drive home if your driving skills are not that good.

also, yes your car feels cheaply made, because it is.

and about the deductible, im pretty sure you can choose your deductible from a couple options when you pick your insurance. At least, i was able to. The higher your deductible is the lower your monthly payment is.

Ask the mechanic for a rundown on the pricing.

Majority of that cost is probably for labor. Tell him you want to know the exact cost of each part and how many hours of labor it will take and what the labor rate is.

Just so ya know Yellow he added the rash part after I responded. I hit it at about a 60 degree angle, it was on the way home from the impound lot and it had no body panels really so I wanted to see if I could break it. So mine wasn't really rash either, just sayin'... Doesn't sound like a 5mph bump.

Find a friend who is good with cars and put it back together yourself. 2700 is an incredibly high quote

yes its slightly bent but they say they either have to replace it or they wont fix it thats why its so much cause they overcharge for every part. i just found every part the quoted me for 2500 for for only 235 bucks. so its only ganna cost me that and some elbow grease. the rim didnt even scratch cause it hit the tire. again it wasnt a bad crash but of course auto shops want to change everything. and on my quote it says track bar and i cannot find what that is. is it just the sway bar?

like i already said.
majority of cost is probably from labor.

also, are the parts you found used?
because if you get it fixed at a shop more than likely they are going to be buying the parts new not used

Another option is to take it to a reputable mechanic in which he trusts. The worst thing he could do is end up paying a diagnostic fee which would run under $100 anywhere he goes. Or he could post pictures/video to help us aid him, but without actually being there, all the internet can do is suggest parts for him to throw at it. Not a good way to fix anything.
I laughed my ___ off at this comment. Dude they blammed my scan gauge 2 for my Check engine light...a code that was responsible for an evaporative leak...come on how can you be knowledgeable and blame a scangauge.

Just read this entire thread. Kid this is what i would since they are charging you so much for parts and only 400$ for labor. Buy the parts yourself and find a garage that will install them for you. The price should be much lower.

i could care less what you do, its not my car or my life.
i was simply explaining why a shops price is so high compared to doing it yourself.

depends on your technical knowledge/skill, available tools, etc.

i honestly think most techs would know that. I think they just try to make up any excuse to not have to dish out money to fix cars. If the customer buys it then they luck out, if not, oh well, they tried.

Then buy the parts that you said you can get for a cheap price and try it out. If you can go to a shop and ask them to install it for you. Just be like i have all the parts just need to install it.

just a real quick suggestion... since you said you can't see anyhting being bent, did you switch tires around to see if it is a bent rim or something along the lines of that?
