Default does a tc have lift?

hey guys i was wondering ever since i put on my cold air i have loved every bit of it. and ive seen dynoes saying that the tc loses hp after about 5900 rpm that it starts going down. well when i get on it and i hit about 6000 rpm i feel even more power and then i shift real quick before i redline. now i know the 1.8L celica GT-S motor/ 03 matrix xrs motor has the vvt-i powerband around 4 k then around 7000 rpm you can feel and hear the lift kick in. well my tc does the same thing around 6000 rpm. now ive read that lift kicks in after 6000 rpm on vvt-i but i didnt know that tc does it. and like i said i feel even more of a powerband past 6000 rpm whats up with that?

uh.
hmm.

Well a tC has cams in it. Cams have lift. Cams also have duration, but thats beside the point.

Are you asking if the tC has mAd V-Tech yO?!

Srsly, tC aint a VTEC, which is mfg-tuned to trick the driver into feeling a 'boost' at a certain RPM (especially true with the older Honda brands). The short of it...

IMO, what U feel on a Toyota is the max allowable intake valve 'lift' & the powerband for that particular motor .. with such a long stroke, tC is pretty much done by 6000.

omg.
no.

VVT-i is not the same as VVTL-i

i would explain but i can already see that its a lost cause.
so just read this,
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/VVT-i

yes i am completely aware of this and i know what the difference between vvt-i and vvtl-i. and no its not a lost cause just a question. wasnt sure what it was. and ok thats what i was asking about comparing to the celica gts motor or matrix xrs. cause it just the intake got a lot louder at 6000k kinda like the sound when the matrix xrs hits lift. thats all i was asking. vtec is the same thing as vvtl-i just honda uses electronic lift control and toyota uses hydraulic.

The new sound you hear is merely a product of resonating frequencies when the engine's at that particular RPM.

Usually, intake tracts are designed to allow high airflow, lower emissions, and lower noise. Sticking an aftermarket intake, which essentially boils down to just a tube with a filter, aims to maximize airflow at the sacrifice of increased noise and higher emissions.

At 6000 rpm, you generally aren't building any more power, and you're losing torque rapidly. Therefore, your actual acceleration is constant at best, perhaps degrading... and your "feel" of accelerating has been decreasing for some time. It's just that the engine noise fools you.

Glad you're happy with your mods though, that's the point, afterall.
