Default ECU - Yes or No

Trying to keep this simple...

Unless you bump up to a S/C or Turbo, is there a need for any modification to the Engine Mapping?

More detail, say you have done intake, pulley, catback, intake header...still no need to modify the engine mapping?

using engine management on a non-forced induction tc is a waste. with simple bolt-ons like those, you aren't changing your air fuel ratios to the point that a tune would make much more power. you CAN get a piggyback ecu tuned, but it won't make a huge difference.

you need an ecu change with boosted applications because of the huge increase in air volume and fuel used, as well as ignition timing to properly use a turbo to its potential, but not cost effective on a n/a tc.

As I suspected...

Just searching for more ways to boost power on a N/A engine beyond the bolt on upgrades and without going to port and polish and beyond...

Goal 200whp+
Easiest Attainable 180whp

I say yes....I know alot of importers that use piggy backs with no turbos that get a power bost of 10-20hp

even if you dont use engine management, if you haven't done so after installing any of those pieces is disconnect the - battery terminal and reconnect it to reset the ecu, any time you put something new on (well, maybe not the pulley) it changes the air flow and resetting the ecu will allow the car to adapt to the new peice thats on there, just turn the car on and let it idle for about 5-10 mins and then drive it around a little and you are good to go. You will lose your radio presets tho :-\

and even if you are like well no duh.. there might be some people that will benefit from that little bit of info.
