Default Horrible noise coming from under the car :/

So yesterday I got an HKS axelback installed in conjunction with my tsudo midpipe and today when I started the car and let it idle a little bit.. a horrible screaching sound came from under the car, It sounds like an older car with a bad transmission but it has more of a grinding sound to it so im thinkin it has something to do with the pipes vibrating and the metal is just rubbing or something... idk what to do to fix it other than check for any loose bolts and spray some WD40 on it. The car only has 9,000 miles on it so I doubt the tranny is ready to fall out of the thing. Anyone else had this issue.. I need some sort of fix cause its loud and annoying

Sounds like your pipes are either vibrating against each other or on something else. Check the fitment and hangers.

ok ok, so we're starting to get the point as to what it sounds like.. now let try to throw out some solution ideas. I got under the car this morning to see If I could tell what may be rubbing but my car was too low for me to really get a good look. So I just decided to tug on one of the metal hanger arms on the midpipe and presto.. It made the squeeking noise, Im gonna try to jack the car up later so I can get a good look but Im almost certain its at a connection point between two pipes. Is there any way I could put a rubber seal or something between there so its not just metal to metal?

I don't think anything rubber would be a good idea there... as it would likely melt at some point. You may just have to see if you can tighten it up further.

I would assume this just becomes part of the problem of bolting up one aftermarket piece to another.

so after some investigating I saw that the midpipe was acutally rubbing on a bolt that is holding the heatsheild up onder the floor board. I've seen problems like this with many midpipes on SL and I bet theres several posts about it too. Im taking it to my local Midas tomorrow to see if they can grind it down or something.. should be a fairly simple fix.

check a gasket too... maybe it's messed up so your pipes are rubbing... just a thought
