Default Injen intake question!

Sorry if someone else posted this but Ive been searching for an answer for a while and couldn't find one! I'm about to get an Injen CAI and I notice many people having problems with their vibra mounts breaking!I was wondering is there some way we can prevent them from breaking? Or is there a bootleg solution? Thanks!! :D

First off, the vibra mounts themselves don't break. The flanges on the intakes can crack.

And second, I have heard that this is an issue with K&N intakes; not so much the Injen.

Yes its definitly better than a homemade one! It is a common issue with K&N and Injen, they both have that problem it seems.

Just word of advice when installing it. It will be A LOT easier to install it with the battery removed and the fuse boxed moved out of the way. Your suppose to, my buddy and I didnt and it was a lot more complicated to do LOL, gotta love hard headed people.

what i had actually been told by injen myself is that the vibra mounts are actually built to break in a couple of years or if you put too much stress on it they said it was for safety of your engine and intake whether its true i dunno but they sent me a new one for my injen cuz mine broke by over tightening and they said not to do that either

I had a horrible vibration issue with my injen cai until I bought that fender plate... For the $17 it is WELL worth the money.. Plus Dr. Iso rocks IMO

Yes the vibra mounts will wear out over time, but they are there to absorb vibrations and movement from the intake piping moving with the engine when you throttle it. In the cases of the people that broke their mounts...theres 3 things so far that have occured.

One, People didn't have the fender panel and that little rubber seal thingy does absolutly nothing to prevent pipe movement so it stress the mounting bracket on the car itself a good bit.

Two, People over tighten the nut on the vibra mount, thus making it almost solid with no flex, so now the car mounting bracket is "directly" attached in a way to the intake pipe which moves a good bit.

Three, one person acutally managed to install the lower CAI portion on the wrong side of the bracket with the vibramount in a weird position. That's the only case I've heard of that and it was b/c he couldnt really see what they were saying in the install papers and the pics are crappy so its not all his fault really.

So yes 17-19 bucks shipped for that thing is really worth it to me. It cleans up the engine bay and helps that issue. I've got over 10k on my Injen and I've had it since Feb-Mar. time frame of this year and had the panel installed with the CAI all at the same time. My mounts look fine and don't looked stressed at all right now *Knock on wood* And I drive my car rather spiritedly if you know what I mean ;)
