Default low idle, knocking noise from underneath

Hey guys,

I have been trying to identify the problem for a while now.

1) low idle:
I was idling at .5 -.45 for a while, so finally got to cleaning out the throttle body- lots of crap came off it- without disconnecting the battery. Started up- idle came up to 1000 rpms, disconnected the battery for 10 mins to reset the comp- it went back to .5-.45 rps. It is not the MAF sensor as I disconnected it as well to check- it was running at .5 to .45 even without it. Some say I need to give it 100 miles before it sets to normal? What do you say

2) I have a weird noice coming from underneath the engine only when accelerating on 2000-3000 rpms. The noice is most obvious on regular gasoline (I'm not joking) , premium still does it but much less. It also seems as if it becomes obvious once the car is running hot.

I got an '05 tc with 132k.
CAI
Axle Back

I would appreciate any suggestions!!!
Thank you

what kind of noise is it making? clanking? pinging? clunk? scraping? banging? try and describe the noise.

yes spark plugs changed every 20k miles, just changed these 10k ago.
The noise is very metalic, when you drive along a wall you can hear it especially loudly. I have no idea how to describe it- maybe I'll try to record it and post it here. I heard it on other cars too but cannot figure out what it is.
I'll post it here once i have it

hmmm.. exhaust issue? definitely try and find out the location of the noise, that always helps.. starting to wonder if it's a catalytic going bad. we have two of them. the 2nd one isn't really monitored by anything, if it was clogged, that could cause the issue too, that you're describing.

these engines are noisy as hell. i would suggest finding another tC of similar year and listening to their engine. More then likely, it sounds the same as yours and your chasing your tail.

grrr, ye I'll start changing the exhaust from the muffler up, it seemed like the noise was actually coming from the muffler, but I'll see.

Anyone on the idle issue? After 150 miles of reset still idling at 450-500

Thanks
