Default Maintenance!

Dear Fellow SL'ers

I got in my car today after work and noticed that my maintenance light was flashing! I have read through some posts and found out possible things that could be wrong. I think I just need an oil change, however, I wanted to check on here to see what you guys think could be wrong. It's and 08 with 4,500 Miles. Needless to say, I haven't gotten my oil changed yet, but I don't drive it hard, nor do I drive long trips. Is it just oil or something else major?

-Thanks

its for the oil change our cars computers are set to have the oil changed every 5000 miles or so after 5000 it might stay on instead of just flashing more often no biggie just get you oil done and reset the light...dont forget scion gives you 3 free oil changes

Yes and no. Correct, it is for the oil change. (In this situation.) The light stays on longer at 500 miles before the oil change and continues to flash/stay on longer until it is 'reset'. Our cars computers are not 'set' as you say. (Ok, yeah the first 5K is 'set' from the factory.) You can specify when you want your oil to be changed. (You can do that HERE.) Be sure that after you get your oil changed that YOU manually reset the system yourself. Some Toyota techs (if you go for the freebie changes) still do not know how to reset the light and you will be driving around with it constantly on.
