*sigh* well, i did get the dc sports headers... and after about 50 miles the CEL came on... so i put the car in the air, put the antifouler on the O2 at the spipe, and reset the light... 20 miles later... WHAMMO CEL! : / do i need two antofoulers at the same spot or just one? and do i need another antifouler at the air/fuel ratio sensor thats conencted to the header? this CEL is very frustrating... anyone else with DC headers throwing out a CEL?

The antifoulers are only working for a handful of people. For everyone else but those that purchased the Alphawerks headers and their O2 "smart sim", they're having just as many frustrating problems as you are. We're all trying to find an affordable fix though.

Stay tuned.

I still don't see how a CEL fix for a Lancer Evo is supposed to work for our cars under completely different conditions. I guess it was better than nothing though.

I'm pretty sure I read that the antifouler trick required two antifoulers, both installed in the same spot. The idea here is to get the 02 sensor further out of the air stream, and therefore registereing less.

The offer can be found here: https://www.scionlife.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=59072. They claim it's a one piece design that just screws in there... I seriously hope this isn't a $45 antifouler fix.

This fix has been working for me perfectly for 870 miles now on my Alphawerks header. It is critical to get it done properly otherwise you will get a CEL. The instructions were provided thanks to the help of kaeon. Instructions are at the bottom.

Nope i let Nexus industries know i wanted one they PM'd me and after some thought i just decided to visit the local autozone and get the antifoulers. The antifouler option is far less expensive and not as inrtrusive and so far working perfectly.

that is because you don't have a POS header. you have a good header. I really dont think it has anything to do with the s-pipe O2 sensor, since the error code says "Bank 1 problems"

The biggest issue with the antifouler trick is to make sure you use a 1/2 brill bit and open the antifouler up completely. If you don't then the sensor will not get the proper reading. I had a pretty difficult time getting it drilled out completely. but used a step bit then a regular bit. No CEL here for over 3000 miles

The engine only has 1 bank since it's a 4 cyl. That terminology is in there for V engines as well. The 4 cyl. is always going to be bank 1, sensor ? the sensors are numbered from the exhaust port out. Bank 1 sensor 2 is the last O2 sensor in the stream. The first is actually an A/F ratio sensor.

I also had problems drilling out the anti-fouler. Since I wasn't sure what was causing it, I went out and purchased 2 more anti-fouler's & a new 1/2" drill bit. I finished this one with no problems, the 1/2" drill bit went through completely. put it on the car, reset the ECU, and 80 miles later the CEL came back on.

but it doesn't tell you what sensor is having the problems then you check the code. it's P0420 and it doesn't give a sensor number, it just says problems with bank 1 (it doesn't even mention a sensor)

do you know what that code means?
