Default Slipping Clutch

Well my clutch is finally going out. I was on the highway yesterday cruising @ about 75. I gave it some gas to pas some cars on the left when what I could only guess was the clutch, started to slip. The car jerked a little bit but didn't gain any speed and the revs still continued to climb. Anyways I drove it home and tried not to stress out the clutch anymore.

Its the stock clutch and I've been a little hard on it for the 50K miles I've had it so I didn't really expect it to last too much longer. My question is, where can I find the best deal for a replacement clutch? I'm not running any power upgrades so I just need a simple replacement and cost is my primary concern. How much am I going to have to shell out? The dealership sites want a couple hundred bucks for an oem replacement. Are they really that much?

And one more question. I was browsing the repair manual and a DIY clutch swap doesn't look too tough if you've got all the tools. Anyone undertaken this themselves? How tough is it?

i did my clutch and flywheel in about 6 1/2 hours at my shop with a lift and all the tools i needed, if you plan on doing it in your driveway you better have a lot of patience. ive done one on my back in a driveway on a gst and it was a nightmare. if you have access to a lift and a tranny jack then its really not that bad. i have a stage 1 comp clutch and am pretty happy with it

well, since you stated that you have no performance parts whatsoever.. an ideal clutch would be the exedy:

and swapping your clutch is a LOT of work. but then again, you save $500-600 getting it done at a shop.
