Starts Rough w/ noises.
I did some searches through the site, but I couldn't come up with anything.
I was wondering if anyone else out there has encountered their tC starting very rough.
My car barely wants to start.
It just seems very shakey.
Along with it being shakey.
The car also makes a lot of noise in the front left area when i start it, or when I am in first gear at low RPMs.
I'm very confused.
First thing I thought to check for the noises when the car starts are loose bolts.
Considering I just installed s-techs a few weeks ago, I thought that might be the problem.
But all the bolts in the front left wheel well were tight.
Anyone encounter this yet?

How long has it been doing this? Did you let the car idle for several minutes while started to see if that takes care of it? (maybe 5-10min?) Did you recently mod the car (i.e. pulleys, intake, header, etc..)?
If not - I doubt it's the battery or alternator..hard start situation could be caused by this but I don't think a rought/shakey/noisy sympton would be. Check your MAF to see if it might be loose or damaged, couldn't hurt to clean it either. If that's a no go the next step would definitely be your plugs.
Someone else might wanna chime in on this but - couldn't it also be a vacuum leak somewhere?

The car has been starting rough for about a year now.
It's been doing it for the longest time and I just assumed it was normal with the tC's.
The only aftermarket performance part on it is a K & N intake.
The can seams to run fine, but the noises during low RPM's in first gear and reverse seem to be a knocking noise almost.
With the cold-air intake the car sounds like a freakin diesel engine..I don't know if this is normal?
I haven't heard any other cars with them sound like this.
Who knows?

ATM I am unable to do that favor for you but I can tell you this though:
My tC is an 07 with just over 35k..I have header, spipe, axle back, sri, pulleys, trd struts/springs/strut bar, trd rear sway on tigtest setting and my car has little to no vibration or cabin noise (with the exception of my exhaust because it's pretty loud). And I definitely have no noise coming from the front of the car and it's not shakey nor does it idle at really low RPM either.

Alright, thanks guys.
I'll be putting the stock intake back in.
Also, the car will be in at the dealership as soon as I can get it there.
Thank you for the help, and if you find out anything on this issue, let me know.

It sounds as if the transmission bracket that is mounted onto the CAI broke and causing it to shake and produce a noise. Happens occassionally to some tC's I've seen. Check the CAI to see if it's shaking alot, that could be the problem with the noise at low rpm's and while starting.

my car does the same thing. it started after i put my CAI on. so i think its just that. it does effect performance or anything. so i just let it be lol. i tighten all the bolts and all that garbage. ive been meaning to put the stock box on and c, but i dont have the time.
let us know what the stealership says.

Alright, will do guys.
Btw, no authority, I didn't mount the CAI to the transmission.
I had to piece together the CAI, because when I bought it it didn't have everything, etc.
To the point..
I'll check that out tonight hopefully.
