Yeah that's what I was thinking and didn't think it would make such a difference but it really worked great.

OMG....I just did this and it made a world of difference, I have the TWM stage II short shifter and it was sloppy as hell, I added an extra screw thou, at the top left opposite of the other one, I found that it made it even stiffer. I wish I would have known about this 4 years ago , thanks trdscion and doc I

I did this with a half inch screw and didnt notice a difference?..

Took off the top screw, it was too tight to the point where shifting was uncomfortable, so i added it to the bottom left, so now I have 2 screws at the bottom, feels better now.

Half inch long? That would be too short to tighten it properly. I used a 1 1/2" screw

Just did this and WOW.
Should definitely do this if you have a early year tC or you installed a short shifter and can't quite put the cap back as well as factory.

I used #8 hex screw 1-1/4" with a drill end

Overtighten, no. Not use a real short one, you need one long enough so it goes into the cage.
Yeah I was really suprised how much it worked. Glad it helped some others out there w/ the early tC's or even if you have a SS.
