depending on the dealer, service tech and service advisor/manager
thats a yes/no answer
most dealers do goodwill/one time only repairs that are out of warranty, but try and help the customer
so yes he may clearly be out, but he may get that chance that the dealer goes above and beyond what they should to help him out

 

yeah maybe you should show up at service at 6AM and have donuts for everyone :D

 

If you read my last post I said it WOULDN'T cover his issue!! and please tell me what my warranty doesn't cover, besides the obvious!!Then I don't have to find out the hard way

so the answer would be no, so no need to say it would

and your one of the millions who ASSUME paying for extra care covers everything
it doesn't, dont assume it does
extra care comes in handy, but its not guaranteed

it will come down to, mileage,plan purchased,issue at hand/circumstance

ill say it again, dont ASSUME becuz your out of factory warranty and you have extended warranty, that its covered
ive seen many customers suprised with decline in coverage from extra care

and if its not Toyota Extra Care, and you bought an "aftermarket" extended warranty
just do this

 

<-- will agree the "extra" coverage you buy does not cover alot of things you think it should. We had a blazer and had the factory "extra" warranty and had a known cooling issue. Took it in and they would not fix it as they say it was a wear tear issue. So I know for a fact they pick and choose what they do. Ended up with a $200 bill.

 

The throttle body is part of the powertrain believe it or not. Intake, engine, transmission, exhaust is all powertrain. With out a throttle body the motor will not function, thus a viable part of the powertrain. Bumper to bumper would be anything from bumper to bumper to interior not having to due with the motor "powertrain."

 

So Scion is picking up the bill for the repair... and for a rental car as well... I asked them what would have caused the Throttle body to stick in the closed position but have received an answer on that on just yet... But good news is they are covering the reapir under the warranty. in return restores my faith in this company.. I thought for sure they were going to stick it to me for this.. even though it was clearly a MFG defect...

 

Go Toyota! Well you're the first with that problem on this forum... That I've seen anyway. I guess you're lucky that the throttle body wasn't stuck OPEN on the highway .

And some of the salesmen in this thread saying "You'll find out the hard way" what the extended warranty doesn't cover doesn't make me want to buy an extended warranty with my next car... Maybe that was his objective...

 

Well if it was stuck WOT i sure would've made it to work on time.. but ya very happy with SCION stepping up and taking care of this... Hope no one else runs into this problem. but if they do just be sure to stay calm and call the SCION Customer Service Center and open a case for it...

 

Extended warrenty doesnt cover WEAR AND TEAR parts.
For example, the warranty covers the windshield wiper MOTER not the wiper. It covers the transmission, engine and clutch fork, not the actual clutch. The warrenty covers a brake caliper, but not the brake pads, it also doesn't cover damage from your neglection, say for example you notice a noise from the brakes, but wait a month to get it checked out and now your rotors are also mangled.

Well according to ScionBandit there are more variables involved than whether or not it is a wear and tear part.
