I agree, the tc (actually the 2az) does have some potential. Its just so much bigger (displacement) than other sport compacts' motors in its class. ANd u gotta love that torque!

I know I'll hit 14s this spring...I'll take all my friggin seats out (hold for drivers) if I have to! =)
Hmm guess you havent been following up with current events. Example on an acura 05-06 RSX-S an Injen CAI reduces ET by .3 to .4 seconds and yields nearly 13whp sometimes more on different motors. If thats not real life for you i dont know what is. On other vehicles CAIs present a loss accross the board. On the TC the gains past 3k rpms are noticeable and some have timeslips showing reductions in ET, however low end TQ hits the fan. So be a little more accurate and not so vague. Also if you do break into the 14s please make sure you post some slips :D

I strongly believe that Cold air isn't necessary on a tC. The only thing that IS necessary intake-wise is getting rid of the lower tract and that diaper filter.

I have no dynos to prove this. However, my time jumped from 15.8 to 15.4 from hacking the airbox and sticking a K&N in there. Granted, I got a .2 better 60-foot, but that alone can't be responsible for half a second improvement and close to a 0.8 MPH gain.

On a typeS... cold air is where it's at... I just highly suggest you go with an icebox or something else, just to avoid the hell I went through and the risk I took that the insurance guy wouldn't come look at it. Use the $ savings for hondata.

I don't even think it's that... There are plenty of people with the mods to easily run 14's BUT...

1- They went supercharger after buying the NA mods.
2- They can't drive for poop.
3- They're wusses and dont want to "stress the car." (Then why mod?)
4- It's never occured to them what they could do, and now, the track is closed for winter.

The way I think...

N/A mods- Potential to 14.8-15.0 range.
Supercharger mods- Potential up to mid 13's
Turbo mods- Potential to 11's

Obviously, I can be proven otherwise.

But as it is, none of the supercharged guys seem to want to run their cars either. The figure I see is mid 14's, which is theoretically possible N/A.

by reduction in track times he meant the number is getting smaller, as in the car is going faster, as in thats a good thing you tard.

60ft 2.19
330ft 6.27
1/8 mile 9.70
1000ft 12.66

1/4 MILE 15.19
SPEED 1/4 MILE 89.39 WOJOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

and sorry for you guys but believe or not I have no mods because my tc in only 3027 miles old
if anybody said is not free HP in the tC..........is WRONG

here is the list of yesterday
#1 stock air system with removed air filter and for the records still have the charcoal thing
#2 removed the stock cat back( just 2 bolts 14mm and 3 hanggers)
#3no seats( like 10 minutes of work)

THATS IT 15.19@89mph

I want now a header and CAI and I know the 14' is just easy

I want to share this with you guys... tires 15psi and I lauch in like 2500rpm because if you do more hard the only thing you get is a nasty tire smoke.

PS. I dont want to anybody be mad with me I just post my yesterday time

Very nice. That 2.19 launch is sick.

Apparently the stock exhaust system is ungodly restrictive... it's holding back my header.

This gives me great confidence that 14's will be done soon.

Wow "15.19@89MPH"
I believe.. Specially with ur "ghetto mods" (no offense).
If you think about it, no filter = basically a CAI (minus the filter), no cat converter = exhaust/straight pipe (might even be more potential if you removed the piping all the from the headers), and no seats is like a CF hood & trunk.
Got to give props to you for 15.19 seconds.

I'm starting to think the moral of this story is... " free mods work."

I dont think anyone has the justification to buy a CAI at this point.

weight reduction is key...

on my sentra forum a guy with bolt-ons ran 13s while everyone else was in the high 14s.. he did shave about 200-300 lbs though... but man was his car a monster

Add a CAI, header, and underdrive pully and those "free mods" and he's solidly into the 14's. You're scared of a CAI because YOU hydrolocked your motor. I've driven countless cars and installed countless intakes and you're foolishly wrong if you don't think they provide a benefit. I'm not going to sit here and teach you why they work but just because you were stupid enough to hydrolock a motor doesn't mean that CAI don't work.

Congrats on the free mod 15.19". Most people that think they can drive... CAN'T. I've beaten countless Mustang GTs in a high 14" Dodge Neon and I bet they all thought they could drive too... Keep up the good work and post when you're in the 14"s. I bet it won't take but a CAI and you're there.

Regards,

B
