Default Time for a timing belt?

Hey guys, lately my tc has been giving me a really hard time. Its to the point where its just no fun driving anymore When i start the car, it starts so weak, i have to turn the key longer than usual to start it up. Also when i hold the clutch in (in gear or in neautral) the car vibrates ridiculously. I opened the hood and had someone hold the clutch in for me to see if i can see exactly where the vibration is coming from and it looks like its the pulley or the belt. Im creeping up on 100k miles and i know maintenance like this is necessary when you get to high mileage. I just want to make sure im right before i go and change the belt, anyone have any idea if it cant be anything else causing the vibration?

Well, luckily for you we have a timing chain instead of a belt. So more than likely your car just needs a tune up.

my tc has always taken a few strokes to turn over. cars idle low for emission reasons, causing that vibration. hold your rpm at 1k rpm like most old cars and you will see the difference.

Your tC just needs a tune up since you're almost at 100K here's my .02 cents.

Replace your spark plugs (go with oem from toyota) 30$
Replace your serpentine belt (30$)
Clean your maf sensor (can is about 8$)
Clean your throttle body (free)
Flush and replace your coolant (40$)
Check/replace air filter (20$)

If you can do most of this by yourself you will save yourself quite a bit of money, if not look and read up on How to's DYI.

For less then 150$ you'll be able to enjoy your tC for another 100K!

Good luck.

Thanks for this list. I changed my spark plugs a couple months ago already and i already replaced my air filter. I've been reading up on here on how to clean the throttle body and replace the belt so ill start with those first.
