Default TRD CAI Vs. Injen CAI

So now that the TRD CAI has been announced and is now for sale on the Scion web site....Has anyone purchased the new TRD CAI to be able to share with us how it runs? Does anyone have dynos for it? How does it stack up against the Injen? Is it worth the rediculous amount of money they are charging for it?

Having the full TRD CAI with a shut off valve is nice (considering it rained for 9 days straight last year around here and it might come in handy) But come on!!! Friggn $400+ dollars for a CAI?? I get the feeling it's not going to be worth the money and I should stick to Injen. (on a side note, I don't own Injen...I am trying to decide between Injen or the new TRD) Also, I guess having the warranty on the CAI is nice too....but man!! 400+ is steeeep!

I searched around ScionLife and haven't found anyone really talking about the new TRD CAI....So excuse this ScionLife newbie for repeating something I couldn't find info on!

How about you give me $400... I'll give you the Injen, paint it red and put a TRD badge on it from eBay.

Basically... it's twice the price of anything that's already out there (and proven good)... so why anyone would spend that much on it is way beyond me.

The topic title is funny TRD vs. Injen? INJEN INJEN INJEN INJEN and INJEN 1000 times over.... EVEN IF, and it's a big IF the TRD would produce more HP, it would only maybe be 1 or 2 tops... and at the price difference, it wouldn't make sense to get it...

i'm an injen man myself, but TRD for other items that may damage your car would be preferred because of the warranty (like the supercharger, which is even steeper in price!)

TRD intake doesn't have a warranty against engine damage... even states that "This product might adversely effect warrantied engine components"... cheesy.... another notch toward Injen

Injen is my vote. I got mine for $212 and I love the sound it makes.
If TRD doesn't warranty their product, why pay more?

The AEM By pass is a great idea because the Injen is a biotch to get out from your fender well!!! I'll have to look into the AEM by pass for my set up.
Thanks Atc2nv

the AEM bypass valve is more of a safty device...basically it keeps your CAI from hydro locking...how---> well if there is water that is being sucked up the intake...the AEM bypass valve acts as a SRI and sucks air from the engine bay...by doing so the water in the CAI part does not fully even come close to the engine...therefore preventing hydrolocking....and it looks cool....this is how i see the bypass valve working...other might disagree...but it makes sense to me because your engines are just air pumps and when the intake gets cloged with water, they bypass valve prevents the water from going into the engine....hope it helps
