TRD Thermostat Question
if i install a TRD thermostat in a N/A engine will there be any benefits other than cooler engine. i know keep a cooler engine goes a long way when your boosted but will it have any effect on a N/A engine. for some reason just like the idea of a cooler engine thats why im asking.
Your engine will take an exaggeratedly long time to warm up. Not a single internal combustion engine on earth is at peak efficiency until it is at operating temperature, the temperature that many hours of engineering determined would be optimal. Until it does, your ECU is programmed to run rich in order to warm up the engine. It doesn't know that it's fighting against a prematurely opened thermostat.
As you said, there are no benefits until you go F/I, where heat is generated much quicker.
