top might be easier if you have a cherry picker.
seriously.. if you couldn't figure out there's one than one way to remove an engine.. i'm concerned about you doing it.

Ok Squallheart why are you questioning my ablity to remove an engine. You dont know me from Adams. I have removed several engines just not a TC. So you can keep your comments like that to your self. Thanks
I haven't pulled an engine yet but I have pulled a few transmissions and from what I remember it will be easier to drop it from the bottom not the top. Best thing to do is just look over the complete engine from the top to bottom and see when you unbolt the mounts what looks to be easier. I say bottom! Like I said though I have never pulled the engine from a tC yet so I wasnt paying that close attention to that side of the vehicle. I know the transmission side is a pain to take from the top its easier to drop from the bottom.
If you cant lift the car enough to clear the engine mounted on the tranny and front end, then it is going to be a bit hard to get it out of the bottom ;) So in the garage with an engine crane... you will want to pull it out the top.
There are cars where it is nearly impossible to pull the engine out from the top, but on the tC it shouldnt be an issue.
