let him know he has a 2-3% error on fuel trims, that's all he needs to know if anything with this car, it's relitively easy to tune

....its ok everyone has to start somewhere......read through some of the stickys in this F/I section as they will explain a little better. but here goes a little cliff's notes version...lol

a wide band o2 sensor will tell you precisely what your air/fuel ratio's are....14.7afr is stoich and is what the tc normally aspirated runs at during idle and normal driving....if your boosted its cool to idle at that but in boost you want somewhere in the neighborhood of 11-12afr. anything higher in boost can spell trouble (in general). I wouldn't worry about data logging anything till you learn the basics of tuning, let a tuner do the work.

Well just to name a few, tuners have proper equipment to tune the car to perform 100%, for example a dyno and experience if it is in fact a good tuner.

Yes you can tune your car at home with laptop and supplied to software that is called street tune.

You really dont have to pay $600 for your tune , i think its way too much, i would try to look for few other tuners just to compare.

Because they can properly tune the car, you can't.

Hi guys. I am about to switch from emanage blue over to the FIC and I was wondering if I could get a couple base maps to get myself started. I street tuned my blue but I wanted to get something with more features so I got the FIC. My setup is a ZPI Stage 1 kit with 550cc injectors, 20g turbo (so basically a ZPI Stage 1.5), and a 2.5 inch exhaust with no cats. I will take any recommended base maps you have and any other base maps you have just so I could look at them. I of course have a wideband, EGT, and boost gauges so I can tune properly. I do not want to post my e-mail so just let me know by PM or in this thread who I should PM my e-mail too. Thanks a lot in advance.

thats AEM UEGO a wideband AFR gauges, yes thats seems to be a popular gauge and alot of people use it.
I personally have PLX devices wideband and i think its a good one as well.

and i have a question guys.

How can i check what kind of spring i have in my wastegate ?
On the box it said 0.4 bar which is minimum 5.75 psi, my installer when he was setting up my boost controller says its like a 9 or 10 psi spring because it would bring the boost down, he had to limit the boost at 8 psi on the boost controller.

I still don't know what the wastegate does or if mine is working ? I know when i hit my clutch .The blowoff valve makes some noise , but what would happen if I just stayed on the gas ? When , and how, and what would the pressure get releasted from ?

i think what your installer meant was that your boost controller was set to 9-10 psi....you cant turn down boost any lower than what the wastgate spring is at unless you swap out springs....so your prolly running a 5.75psi spring. A boost controller can only raise boost above wastgate spring.

the wastgate is there to limit the amount of boost pressure by releasing exhoust gas away from the turbo thus keeping the turbo from spooling faster.

so i talk to my tunner today , and he said I really need a boost controller . I thought the wastegate and the blow off valve controlled the boost ? ? ? He said they have a manual one for like 70 to 80 buxs . So i guess I'm getting that now before the wideband . lol

wideband is more important than the manual boost controller.
controller is only used to allow u make more PSI over the wastegate preset spring. wideband will tell u if ur car is running properly. U don't want to turn up the boost if u can't see if the car is going to be running like it should

BTW, a controller might not be a bad idea if ur taking the car to get tuned. I just wouldn't cheap out and not get the wideband
