i only know of one guy personaly that is using the CC stage 3 without issues so far...i think he has 10,000 miles on it...so iv seen it work and iv seen it fail.

just an idea that i talked to paul about...If you were to look at the backside of the clutch plate (cc stage3 we had) it looks clean, meaning there is no wear on the spring "retainers". of course you flip it around and it looks like hell. it makes me think that the springs arnt 100% centered in the plate so the springs compress and bow out in one direction rubbing on one side of the spring retainer. over time it just wears away the retainer and out pops a spring.

is this idea off?

why not go str8 to the OEM... where did r&d fall off here AGAIN? did they not deal with dyken (sp) anymore? whose doing all this r&d ... the end user is basically the one getting screwed and the shops are keeping hush hush about this or getting their facts mixed up....

lets start getting some accurate detail because theres alot of conflict here and frankly im pretty sick of the bs
I made the phone call to Adam at CC and what I posted was what I was told. Maybe if you spoke with them at that time they sent you an OEM one I dont know.

its starting to sound more of a root source then end source issue frankly...which sucks because anyone in the middle (ei: dealers) are going to get hurt the most
We don't get hurt. CC handles all of their warranties. You have a problem you go straight to them because they are the ones who will solve your problem.

As for me. I PREFER EXEDY ;) I dont know how much more i can spell it out. You pay for what you get and CC are cheap for a reason. I don't like them and I wouldn't use one aside from a twin disc if available this century.

The bow out but if you look at the plate they are centered in the hub. It's just a crappy design coupled with engagement issues.

I also assume my clutch plate is trashed. I suspect the rubber "wanna be springs" are either gone or hurting real bad.
Sounds like the disc is worn.

no its not crush, but when a spring falls out of its metal casing u have to first examine how the spring is actually being held in place and also take into consideration which metal is being used to make the spring casing and the way its actually embeded into it... poor metals, thin spring holder linings play a huge factor in quality. then theres the actions it takes to damage it.. granted a few hard launches at high rpms with enough force CAN put enough stress on the metal to fracture it. but these are things r&d depts and constant testing should pick up on immediately. if your rated for XXX amount of power and TQ you should be able to beat on that thing and have it still survive even after a mear 20k miles (speaking in a perspective of someone who daily drives their car but still races )... pads are usually the first to go. but on rare occasion the springs can come apart and break because of the constant stress.. but regardless, if your prduct holds XYZ power it should hold WXY power... when u have such a large grouping of people across the board now starting to see the same failures you then have to focus on where the product is coming from and being assembled at... if your turning a quick buck and using cheaper parts or substituting parts to make extra cash (which is why i think it going on) then that would explain such a huge amount of fails poping up now more often. why because people sometimes just are push overs and put the blame on themselves... but thats cant always be the case. if that would be the case then noone would ever improve on parts and competing against other companies would be useless because its all the same across the board. now if you have competition putting out a better product and better r&d its gona show. and those just turning over product and cutting corners are eventually going to fall. you have to look at this from all angles.. and not just the consumer end of it

no actually i spoke to pual from your camp.. and what he told me was exactly what im saying... so which dezod employee should i start believing then??

i spoke to no one from CC... pual handled it for me as a favor and because i was a customer... i know i did not receive and OEM one because my TOB FAILED miserably and its by far in no comparison to the OEM one...

im glad you like excedy Don and that you have love for it... thats probably the one im going with if i cant fix my current situation with any luck as the TOB i was sent directly from CC failed and it also cause me to grind down and shear my clutch fork... im done with using CC on my car again...

Hey its better then when i had my cc stage 4 fail..

I sent it back and there reason was it was a old plate accually designed by exedy and wasint ment for the power! WTF!!

got my new one and gave it away for free!

I since used clutch master twin disk and am problem free! Friends on clutch master stage 4 no problems! And ive herd nothing but great things about exedy!

I should note CC makes good honda clutches!

Well the design isn't really different - the main difference is that Hondas make so much less torque.

I didn't read the thread , Mainly because it is 3AM, but I did want to say that my buddy just has now had his 3rd competition clutch go out on him in his scion. I personally will never buy a competition clutch product. even if they gave it to me for free I wouldn't use them. They are located here in my home town and were talking about putting a special "prototype" clutch in my car that could hold the 500+ hp my car was going to be making.... I told them NO WAY....

My bud, now has gone through 1 Transmission, a TON of money in tow bills, Weeks without his car, the clutch and trans have been off almost a dozen times, 2 rear main seals, and now after this most recent failure he has developed a case of crank walk... they have told him on a number of occasions that they would pay for any repairs... he had them done and they have refused to pay multiple times...

My personal opinion of them is very low... a poorly run company and even worse product quality...

sorry had to rant... I'm tired of seeing all this debate...

We all need to understand that companies like Competition Clutch don't normally make their own clutch. The source a pressure plate and a disc, and then they either use their own friction pads or also source those. They mix/match these parts from various manufactures.

this is true... and is probably why they are doing so bad... who ever the supplier for their parts is basically screwing them over... the only r&d i see being done on CCs part is "who can get me the parts i need cheapest no matter what the risk"

True. PLENTY of clutch companies do this.

ACT uses Exedy for about 70% of their pressure plates. The other 30% are made by them, which is only for their top movers.

CC used to use Exedy for their plates back in the day too. They since developed their own....

Exedy, their parent company Daiken, FYI, supplies approx 60% of the OEM world with their clutches. They are HUGE! It's no wonder why everyone uses them or bites off of them.

I normally buy from another sponsor here, but nearly $100 difference was too good to pass.

I paid $373 for the clutch, bought it Saturday 3:10 am (don't ask why) and call them up at 9:00 am to see if I it could expedited. They were already getting it ready for shipping and assured me that it would be at my place by Monday, really cool people to deal with. They include free shipping on everything over $100 and free overnight on Thursdays. I paid a couple of extra bucks to get it through UPS and left a note to see if it could be overnighted cuz it wasn't an option at the time of purchase. They still overnighted it pretty much and didn't even charged extra for it.

Thanks assaultech!!
I appreciate the kind comments, glad we made another customer happy Hit us up if ya need anything else
