Break in Methods

Break in Methods
So ill be finishing up my engine build and hopefully hearing that first breath of fire a week from saturday - so my question to you guys, what break in method seems to work the best? How many people stand by the famous motoman method?

you just built it, why break it??
just drive it like a granny and get some miles on it. check the oil often since a new block will suck up some oil and seal the fine lines. That's mainly the deal but some would argue to do more than that.

break in method or the engine or for the turbo or both?
when my tc was new, i just shifted very early all the time for the first 1k miles, shifting at 3 rpms sometimes 4 if i was in a rush, but never at WOT and so on.
when i had the supercharger installed, i again only drove it up to about 3k rpms for about 500 miles, then the next 500 miles, i slowly revved up to redline in 1st and 2nd gear to make sure everything was running smoothly and correctly through out the entire rpm band.
so far i haven't had a single problem.

Just drive like a sane person.
Also, try not to keep it at a constant RPM for a long period of time - ie: highway driving at a constant speed.
Back when I had a Saturn, I built my motor but had to drive back to Gainesville FL for college, which was 6 hours away. I ended up taking the "backroads" filled with street lights. I ended up getting to school in 9 hours but my engine was being properly broken in!
Oh - and yes, conventional oil first few oil changes. Not "____ty" oil - but we know what purple meant.

haha - also for priming the oil system - is it really required to push oil in through the oil sender tap using a pressurized container and schrader valve? Or is it ok to just crank the motor with the efi and plugs disconnected for 20-30sec 2-3 times to prime the system? Im no stranger to internal motor work but this is my first "modern" motor lol everything ive delt with you could prime using a drill with the distributor shaft lol - also was thinking what about filling it with oil and turning the crank by hand while still on the motor stand to prime it?
