Default Building Custom Turbo Kit. Good Idea or not?

I dont know if this subject has already been posted, but I want to see what people think. My budget is some what limited and I really want to get a turbo kit for my car. I have been flipping back and forth between selling the tC and getting something faster or just staying with a tC, and I decided I don't want a car payment. And buying a decent kit is at least 3k, definitely dont have the money for that. So say I were to just buy the manifold, wastegate, turbo, etc. one at a time, what sort of problems would i come across? (Refering to say...the turbonetics kit?)

I would be able slowly get a kit together and not have to just pay such a large amount.

Please let me know your thoughts.

It's not so much saving money as much as forking it over all at once. I figured it would be able to same, I just cant do it all at once.

if you have the knowledge a custom setup can save you a good chunk of cash. knowing where to shop and knowing how to turn a wrench really helps. i'm confident i can do a nice setup for around 2300$

So are you saying you think it's a good idea and you're probably going to build your own kit?

If you were to build your own right now, which kit would you refer to, if any?
What combo would you do?

actually, you would. if you search correctly

i have all my parts, minus intercooler piping and a downpipe.

even management and injectors and a 60-1 turbo. for 3100

mind you, the ONLY things left that i have to buy are pipes and get a downpipe fabbed.

thats going to put my turbo for sure at under 4k and push out as much power as a 6k Turbo toyotas kit.

or so i hope =P

im kinda reluctant to show you this. but heres a price list of EVERYTHING I BOUGHT FOR MY CAR. turbo and otherwise...only cuz i'm too lazy to take out anything else

oh, the problems you would most likely run into is stuff like...downpipes, if you get a manifold without a downpipe combo.

which if you do, dezod is selling the cheapest. also, make sure you do hte correct kind of research, sure. a large turbo is WOOHOOO but then you have to factor in location and space and all that stuff.

another thing is....depending on what kind of manifold you get, slim fans are a must. don't forget that. couplings and pipes and whatnot can get to be pretty expencive, unless you figure that ebay stuff is just the same. pipes.

shopping aorund correctly can save you quite a bit of money.
