I've gone through 3 chargers in a span of 30K miles, 1st one was an 05-06 first gen model with no mods and took a dump, 2nd one was the second gen 05-06 and only added a drop in K&N air filter and took a dump, 3rd one was also a second gen 05-06 and I added custom cold air intake. The last one is now sitting in my garage in a box I've lost over 1K on this thing and would be nice to get some of it back, so I wish you luck cause at the end it will benefit us all, thanks.....

06 sc its been on for 55k miles @ year 3 things went down hill.
-replaced bearings, had to get both mounts welded and noticed excessive wear to the shaft
6 months later (today)
-replace bearings/shaft, mounts re-welded, and plastic coupler disk is shredded.

trd is not at all helpful when attempting to locate a replacement or fix a problem. they suggested i get a new sc when i called to locate the coupler, yes thats exactly what i want to do when your product sh*ts out on me for the 2nd time, just drop 3k to get a new one. terrible customer service!

*What year?
2006 tC.

*Possibly Miles on it?
S/C'd @ 30k. 1st SC lasted till 34k, 2nd lasted to 39k (second s/c send metal down into the oil system and ripped the next one and the engine apart), 3rd lasted till 41k , 4th lasted to until 66k when bearings went out. On #5.

* Have you had any problems with it? If no, just say no problem.
Just they don't last very long.

* If so what kind and how many times have you had this problem?
See above. I'm on s/c #5 and my second engine.

2007

Tc has about 56k on it of which about 40k were with the SC. Have been running the 9.5 pulley for probably 20k now.

I rebuilt the SC this year and everything was in pretty good shape now have upgraded bearings and shaft.

Only problem I an currently having is oil leaking into my intake but I have found a company who sells upgraded impeller shaft bearings which should solve this issue. Other than the annoying oil it still runs great and have plans to go to smaller pulley soon.

Line is capped with a breather, only possible place the oil could be coming from is the impeller. About to post something I found about them.

Default yet another broken SC

just noticed the thread. glad someone is attempting to do something about this problem.

*2005

*currently on my second SC but it's in the shop right now so we'll see in a week what happens

*1st SC was 05/06 model and it only made it about seven months before making terrible whining noises coming from the SC end, i think it was bad bearings on the impeller end on that one. had the stock header/heatshield on then. replaced under warranty.

*2nd SC was the redesigned 05/06 model and it made it a whopping 20,000 miles before it started having problems. the SC pulley now moves from side to side at least 1/4" and destroyed my serpentine belt. it's currently at the dealer, they told me they don't know where the problem is and they're having someone from TRD come and take a look at it. i currenty have a MMW header installed, with some heat wrap also on there.

I have a 2006 with 42,000 miles.

Pulley side bearing gave out at 16,000 miles. Toyota replaced the bearing at no cost.

Supercharger is starting to have a high pitch whine. Which is what happened before when the bearing failed.

You should feel happy with your engine upgrade after spending $3,000-$4,000. Instead we constantly worry when (not if) the supercharger will give out.

While I agree there are simple steps to take to ensure you do not ruin the SC, one item would be periodic tear down inspection which really doesn't take long.

stock 05 put on at dealer, went out at 14K covered by warranty, second went out at 47K, 9 months out of warranty, I _____ed enough and they covered it 100%. Don't take no for an answer, call Scion directly, all the dealer is is a pawn, go to the top. 55K now, but have till Nov till the warranty is gone. So far so good.

i hear something going on as soon as i hit the gas a little especially when the car first turns on think a bearing might be going bad in my 3rd one (stock) extended warranty ftw!
