It's actually very easy to do the LED swap. I had about 30 minutes of solder experience doing mine, and by the time I was finished I felt like I could solder anything
. It just takes time and patience.
I sent my HVAC during April or May. It was only gone for a little less than a week, I didn't mind driving around for a week without heater/air controls, especially since it was 75-80 every day.

the only tricky part is removing the HVAC lcd, its a PITA and i guarantee an impatient one that tries to pry it off will break it.. I broke mine but thats was after I carelessly left it on the sofa to take a break.. stupid 1 hour of carefully desoldering it haha
Hey jon and ace do you guys have better pics of your gauges n hvac. cuhz ace you said you have blue and jon you said you have all white in that last pic. but both of ya'll look the same color to me..

White is hard to actually get a good shot of and I'm at work, so I don't have access to any of my pictures, which are on my Mac. I'll look thru my photobucket real quick..
I think we both have two toned led swap, white leds with blue film at the back of the gauge faces.. the difference we have is the are that we placed the blue film and our needles..

My blue was much deeper than Ace's. The white is hard to capture when you're not taking a direct picture of it. Most of interior shots make them look all blue.
Couldn't find anything my photobucket, I know I uploaded a shot of the all white when I did it, prob on the SW thread, can't find it.

do you want a richer blue? you can do all blue leds too but cant do the numbers white.. carbons last pic is like a light bulb shot so it doesnt look blue coz the aperture is too open
I think I read on garage 1217 that you have to do something special to get the rpm red line red and the temp. Or do younot change that from the how the cluster came stock. Sorry I have completely forgot how every small detail on these things. Been soo long since Ive drivien my tC.. lol
carbon are you using all blue leds on your latest swap? yeah that one is a richer blue.. that was my first led swap but got bored so i did something a lil tricky hhaha, might go back to that soon since i have a spare gauge cluster

All white LEDs with all red LEDs for the warning indicators. It's the best way to go. I used a blue film behind the face plates to make the two-tone. I just used that colored saran wrap ____ (can't think of the name..) and cut it out. One layer was too light, two layers was about where yours was, and 3 layers gave me the nice deep blue that I wanted.
