Custom Supercharger Shafts !
I am going to the shop 8 am Saturday morning to finalize things and pay for the shafts, i am also getting a guaranteed finishing time on these. I am expecting it to be under 2 weeks from this Saturday. Either way I am 100% getting a bullet proof no more delays completion date.
If anyone has any questions or concerns please pm me.

Any word yet on instructions with pictures to install this thing on the SC?
Any little tricks we have to know, or any little details that will screw everything up?
A machinist friend of mine said we needed a really really long bearing press in order to put the bearings back on. He recommended we could just go to a pep boys or something and ask to use their bearing press (which they normally use for truck axles).

Update*
I went to the shop today and all I have to say is that its 200% better than the previous shop. Its a lot smaller, but that works out to our benefit as our shafts won't be put on the back burner like what happened at the first shop. I got a tour of the facility and explanation about all of the machines etc. Its some some pretty impressive stuff, the shaft ends will be made on an 8-axis, 16 bit lathe, this thing is crazy and cost as much as most peoples houses. He has 5 of these and one of them is free so it will be dedicated to the shafts. The owner pointed out some things to me that the other shop did wrong/half assed, so these shafts are going to be even better than the one in my car now which makes them many times better than the original vortech shafts. The end where the bearings go will be machined to 1/5000th of an inch tolerance and the rest of the shaft will be machined to 1/1000th of an inch. The shaft ends will be hardened even more as per his recommendations and the center tube will be a very strong 4045 steel. It might be slight overkill in some areas but we both agreed that its more important to do it once and do it right since we are only taking about a few bucks extra cost per shaft. The shaft ends will be made in-house so all that we will be waiting on is hardened steel for those, should only take a couple days to make them. I got a good deal and am ordering 15 of these shafts since I have been getting a few pm's lately about other people wanting shafts. The tube will be ordered and cut to size, that shouldn't take more than a week, also the ends need to be taken to a another shop for properly grinding the spots where the bearings go after they are hardened, you can no longer do that on a lathe after it has been hardened. The bearings will also be put on by a different shop which can do it properly without messing up tolerances etc. Then the shaft will be laser balanced, he also reassured me that the bearings we chose are great and are actually the same ones used in his $500,000 lathes.
The date i got from him is 3 weeks. The order for the hardened steel is going in on Monday, after that its just a process of sending it from once place to another, still local, and getting the precision grinding, balancing, vacuum heat treating, and the bearings put on. Thank you all for waiting patiently and it turns out that it was worth the wait as this is an even better product than before for the same amount of money! I will be getting updates from the shop and posting them throughout the next 3 weeks. In that time I will also try to get my tips together for putting it in, and goodguy said he will take pics when he puts his shaft in.
sounds like a good shop, and that they know what there doin. props for goin to hell and back tryin to get these shafts made. thanks and ill be patiently watching and waiting for this. and yes ill take a lot of pics but first i just need to know how its done lol
I was at the shop again on Thursday, had to bring them all of my bearings and the check. They have the material in and will start cutting the shaft ends Monday or Tuesday. The center pipe will be ordered Monday or Tuesday also. We slightly redesigned the way the ends fit into the center tube, as we found it will work better/be stronger that way. I'm guessing that by the end of the week the tube should be in and the ends should be done, the ends will then be going through a vacuum hardening process. Mid next week they should be in the other shop for welding/balancing, and getting the bearings put on with the proper presses. So hopefully everything will be done in about 2 week unless there is a day or two of delays in between. I think i mentioned it already, but I am ordering 15 of these so I will have extras if other people want to order later on.

Thank you everyone for pming me your info. The shaft ends are done and will be vacuum hardened on saturday. I'll be going down to the shop on saturday and take some pics. The center shafts are also ready so once the pieces come in from hardening they will be pressed into the center pipe and they go on to welding, balancing, and the bearings will get put on. The balancing process is top notch, the shaft actually gets balanced 2 times! Once after it gets welded and before the bearings are put on and the 2nd time after the bearings are pressed on. The machine they use to do this uses a laser to make sure the shaft is perfectly balanced! So look out for pics on sat and then hopefully one more week and they will be done. I'll be working on some tips for installing the shafts next week and hopefully goodguy will be taking the pics necessary for a diy once he receives his shaft.
I made a website for all the info to be in one spot and for you guys to have a place to refer all of your friends
