Default Difference between blowoff and diverter/bypass valve?

Hey

Could someone explain in detail the difference between a blowoff valve and a diverter/bypass valve? Is there even a difference? Thanks

A blow off valve vents to atmosphere while a bypass valve recirculates the air back to the intake. BPV's come stock on most fi'd cars while BOV's are aftermarket. You can vent BPVs to atmosphere while not a good idea and likewise BOVs can be recirculated but that would require a way more detailed explanation.

In the case of a supercharged car, does it make a difference whether you use a bypass valve or a blowoff valve?

It really comes down to personal preference. If you're using the MAF still it would be a better idea to recirculate it since releasing metered air will cause the the a/f to go rich during shifts/throttle releases. Though this is not that big of an issue and most people will use a BOV anyway.

tuning with an safcII would solve that problem correct? is there a writeup on how to install a bov instead of bpv with the trd supercharger setup?
