The eBay Turbo kit
In a time started not too long ago, car enthusiasts and tuners looked into buying forced induction systems in making more horse power for their cars. They either were usually riding a brand name turbo kit such as Greddy or HKS, or if one was not available for their specific vehicle, a turbo kit was custom made by being pieced together.
A few had superchargers and even less did internal engine work, reserved for the extremist. There were some doing engine swaps but that's because their original motor was really weak and sizzy, or they ended up blowing it to smithereens when a ricer burn out was done that ended in revving the engine past the redline into fatal doom. However, all of those modifications were very, very expensive. In fact, to this day, turboing one's car is still consider expensive. Until now... or should be said at least, less expensive.
Several years ago, the high demand for turbo products lead to new competitors in the turbo market. While companies such as HKS & Greddy from Japan and Power XS & Garrett from the good ol' USA have established themselves as reliable, quality brands that car fans can trust on, there were Chinese manufacturers coming into the game. Two major branches in fact. Well, lets take a look at the primary, that happen to have gone out of business and merged with the later, Wuxi Mingzhu.

Back in early 2000, a seller by the name of SSAutoChrome appeared in eBay. He sold turbo kits and products known as XS Power (infringement on Power XS), Stone Mountain racing, and XY Turbo. Consumers were taken awe by his low prices, usually 1/4th the cost of a turbo kit ($1200ish compared to $4000+ from lets say HKS). However, they're surprise would come to greater shocks.

In the early days, turbo kits and products originating from China had quite a handful of problems. The material and quality consistency were far from acceptable. Intercooler pipings were eggshell thin and burst open from the turbo's compressed air. The intercoolers had not enough fins to proper cool this air resulting the engine becoming literally, bombs. The wastegate and blow off valves had poor internal spring resistance and boost creep was all too common. Turbo exhaust manifolds were made of soft pig iron that cracked so much, like a cookie crumbling in milk. There were fitment issues, oil leaks, blown seals, and ahh yes, the actually turbo itself breaking literally in two because of its weak aluminum alloy, improperly balanced turbines, and oh the real shocker, adhesion by being glued together by epoxy.
Ah yes, the Chinese were far behind in craftsmanship, quality control, and R&D in the field of turbochargers. They're first attempts in mass producing such car aftermarket products that required so much precision would take some years in perfecting what they do best in imitating others. Thus, Made in China turbo kits were nicknamed the "Ching Chong Meow Turbos", as humorous but serious insults.

Those days were sad. Many cars fell victim and prey to tragic endings of surgeries that led to automotive suicide. People began filing lawsuits towards SSAutoChrome ,and before eBay finally shut down this infamous person's operations of selling terrible turbo products, the damage was already done. The car modding scene and car-fandom forever would viewed the reputations of Chinese car aftermarket products with utmost disgust. After this happened, new eBay sellers sprung up and began taking over in selling the inexpensive Chinese turbo kits, albeit they had finer results of quality and even, satisfaction.

There was man named Dan, from California who, along with a several others, became prominent in the Chinese's later years of research and development in their turbo kits. Under his guide, the Chinese began making improvements in their manufacturing. He would come by the alas of "Advan Racing" on eBay selling the newer generations of these turbo parts. The brand of the turbo would become known as, Godspeed.

Intercooler pipings were thicken to handle the high pressures. Intercoolers became stuffed with more waffles performing quite well in their job of cooling incoming air. The wastegates and blow off valves designs were polished for reliability such as correcting the springs stiffness and strength. The turbo manifolds received thickener materializing and weld reinforcement, and they held up okay under low to moderate levels of boost. For the turbos themselves, lets just say the few that bought them are happy.
So yes, that affordable and reliable turbo kit finally came one day. Although, some creases still needed ironing out as there still are some fitment issues for some car models and still a few incidents of failed turbo parts these days, the eBay turbo kits have gotten way better. Quite a lot of people who have purchased today's generation of the Ching Chong Meow turbos can testify that the Chinese manufactured parts do their jobs well.

While there still linger some duds, lemons, and earlier, faulty turbo parts in eBay, it can be said that the turbos from China will one day become tomorrow's brand for all car enthusiasts and tuners, of all car makes and models, to not only know and trust, but also afford.

I purchased a stainless steel one off of ebay. hopefully that will fix my only problem. I have been racing several times I'm pulling 14.4 qt. mile. with a little over $1100 with a treadstone manifold.
