The theory is that the trd tune makes adjustments on the throttle, it ends up closing it when the s/c is boosting on high rpm. my theory and it should work. getting an n/a ecu and tuning it with the fic/ or ultimate, it will produce more hp than it should at 7 psi or whatever boost you have. our tps max percent is 81.1% when the car is boosting on higher rpm the throttle closes to 40% and makes it loose power. its a safety feature that trd put so that the motor wouldn't blow. id say that the trd superchargers full potential should be around 250hp 265hp at 7psi tuned correctly with the throttle opening to its fullest point. not many people have noticed this but that kit has a lot of potential.

goodluck trying to get 250whp! i think its around 180 with the trd map. i highly doubt adding 70whp with the a piggyback! but hey try it and prove to everyone that the supercharger has bawls! go to a junk yard and get a ecu it shouldnt be more then 100 bucks. go to car-parts.com thats here i found my stock ecu for 100 bucks locally at from a junkyard that the website told me about!

no one is thinking about the immobilizer? you will have to take the replacement ECU to a dealer to get it registered with your key...

Buddy Club makes a module to keep the throttle body at 100% called the e-throttle booster. Much easier mod IMO.

i wouldn't call it a theory... more like a hypothesis

Just thought I'd chime in to save you time and money on testing your theory and on your piggyback ECU selection. I just recently dynoed a TRD SC'ed tC with the Greddy EMU. I used a professional OBDII Scanner to monitor the ECU's throttle position, since I've heard this theory before. The TRD ECU will in fact allow the throttle body to go to 80+ percent, just like the stock, non-TRD ECU. Btw, this is on an '05 SC'ed model, but I would assume the '07-up models would be the same. I can't imagine the engine making any power at only 40% TP.

If you are planning on tuning a TRD ECU, go with the Greddy EMU, since you will need a bit of timing advance in order to gain any noticeable power over stock. The FIC will not allow for timing advance and is a not a good choice for TRD SC'ed tC owners. The FIC is best suited for NA ECU's on boosted tC's where you will pretty much only be looking to retard the factory timing.

The FIC offers a lot of bang for the buck and the O2 spoofing is certainly a very nice feature (more so with the NA ECU's), but the EMU does offer more advanced features not found on the FIC. Either way, it would be unfair to make a direct comparison between the two piggybacks, since one is clearly more expensive than the other. Anyhow, I'm getting a little off track here, but I thought I'd give everyone further insight into choosing the right piggyback for your application.

Lastly, don't take this the wrong way, but I've tuned my fair share of boosted tC's. I can usually make a pretty decent power prediction before I even strap a car down on the dyno. Your power goals for 7psi with the supercharger is probably a little bit - okay, maybe a lot, optimistic (regardless of dyno used). Those numbers should be achievable, but I think you'll definitely need a smaller SC pulley to make that happen.

Anyhow, good luck with your project and keep us updated.
