Default FML low oil pressure

ok well usually my oil pressure after some spirited runs is 8-11 psi at idle....


yesterday it started idling at around 5-7psi at idle....

but... my cruising and cold start oil pressures are normal


my guesses....

either

1. its cuz i just got an oil change and the oil is thinner than the old oil i had..

2. rtv is clogged around my oil pick up tube

3. oil pick up tube is loose ( i did reinstall this recently)



so i guess monday ill drop the oil pan and take a looky

this car is nothing and i mean NOTHING BUT PROBLEMS....because of this i went out and bought a 2010 ford edge fully built for my daily driver

oil level and idle rpm the normal? how thin is your oil now?

oil level is spot on... now the idle rpm i cant really tell ill have to hook up my aem to it what normal idle like 700-720 right? cruising town and after long drive pressure is at 11-8psi


oil weight is 10w30 penzoil synthetic

wont hurt for me to drop it anyways i wanna make sure i tq the oil pickup bolts to spec when i did it 2 weeks ago i tighten 1 tight and the other i tightened just as much but felt that it coulda gone more but didnt wanna run risk of stripping it

the only time i had an oil pressure of 5 psi on hot idle was when my rpm was surging down to 500rpm... wouldnt hurt to check though

nope wouldnt hurt at all cept for the new oil and toyo FIPG i gotta buy lol

ill re-use my oil filter its got like 400 miles on it

the permatex red is too runny and thing, the right stuff stick well for maybe 3 months and then theres the other wanna be stuff


nothing compares to FIPG

ok well just got off the phone with ptuning... they will take care of it for me i dont wanna drop this oil pan anymore on my own

the car is nothing but problems cause you have taken mad shortcuts in the past and the car has had alot of things off and on

I used the same oil except i used 5w20 and had a oil cooler, your oil pressure does seem a touch low but not real bad. still there is something up, i too would like to hear what your idle rpm is.

k idle rpm is anywhere form 770-700

Typically the rule of thumb is 10 psi for every 1000 rpm.

thanks don so having a 7psi pressure around 700 rpms isnt NORMAL but not DRASTIC... ill have it fixed up soon

Factory service manual states that at idle minimum pressure is 4.3psi.

If you don't hear a knock or your oil pressure light isn't on then I would be inclined to say that you are fine.

At 3000 rpm the book states anywhere between 36-78 psi is normal.

My oil pressure dropped to ~5 on multiple occasions when coming to a stop (gauge warning was set to 5PSI). I never really considered it a problem as it usually bounced back up to the usual 7-10.
