Default High heat

Does anyone know what temperature the turbo system usually creates... i just coated my manifold, downpipe, and turbine side with 1200 degree high heat paint.. Is this temperature paint good enough...?

The heat generated before the turbine wheel can be in the 1500+ F degree range. Even hi-temp ceramic coating such as Jethot will eventually flake off.

So to answer your question, NO 1200F degree paint is going to burn right off.

damn.. i went ahead and did it b/c i was gettin answer sayin the temps would get about 800F degrees... So, i guess ill just let this burn off and not care... Im wanting to buy Equal lenth stuff later.. I just need to finish up my turbokit and have some fun...

the high pressure side "air" can get up to 1500 degrees, so the pipes can get between 1000 or more. best bet is to heat wrap it. DEI heat wrap, advance auto parts or autozone should have it.

i just unwraped the heat wrap to have a cleaner look... guess when it burns off illl re-wrap...

Depending how you drive your car and how the downipe is setup, you may or may not need heat wrap. Just as an example, when we ran our Time Attack tC last season, the downpipe got so that that it melted one of the radiator fan shroud, preventing the fan from rotating. We ended up cuttting part of the fan shroud to get the fan to turn. After that, we wrapped it with DEI thermal wrap for the remainder of the event. Again, this is running boost all weekend long.

Anything that can help to keep the heat inside the exhaust tube and away from the engine bay and the air intake is a plus.
