Default MegaSquirt ECU

Has anyone ever used or heard of anyone using this ECU set-up. I have talked to a guy out here who is sharp with his turbo knowledge and he pointed me in the direction of the Megasquirt setup, I will most likely use it but I was wondering if anyone has ever used it.

i'd wait for the AEM EMS or get the universal EMS. well worth the wait. But no, I haven't seen anyone that has talked about using it, search perhaps?

I have not seen anyone talk about it before but I personally thought about it several times. For someone with a small budget I think it would be the best possible solution but obviously it will not be easy especially since there is no real base map. Also if you are the first person then there also might be a lot of trial and error. Import Tuner this month had an article on Megasquirt. It is going to be a 2 part article but they were going to put it on a turbo Miata. I personally may eventually try the Megasquirt but I am going to stick to the Emanage for now.

i contemplated building a megasquirt setup for my turbo box back in the day...its really an efficient cost effective setup. You can get the assembled or build your own kit. The megasquirt will work wonders for our cars, I have been waiting for someone to try it out...please go ahead and build a setup
I convinced one of the other guys in the xB f/i forum to build a setup for his greddy turbo...im waiting to hear back info from him

I have been unimpressed with the megasquirt on various applications. The fact that this car has quite a bit of CAN interfacing going on with the stock ECU means any standalone will actually overlay on top of the stock ECU. The Hydra will be the first fully plug and play and DBW controllable ECU on the market but I wouldn't expect it before Spring 07.

"megasquirt" .... sounds like something you'd buy at excitement video but yes I've heard of it. A kit around here has a 1.8T running that and has no complaints, perhaps something that is worth a shot???

well, for a lil bit over $300 you can buy a fully assembled kit and then just download the tuning software for free. I think its the least expensive way to go...someones gotta try it to see if it works good though

I know a guy who has used it on a few different cars and he is convinced, that for a daily driver that whoops some ___ megasquirt will be the way to go. So Im going to go for it and I have already emailed megasquirt and asked there opinion but Im expecting them to say "Of course" just so ill buy it. But the guy I know, knows how to program it and so I think itll work out great.

Which one are you going to get and where are you going to buy it from. I am looking to get started on mine tomorrow since me and my friend have been reading and searching for everything and now we are ready to get to work. I am using the MegaSquirt mainly because I like the idea of building my own Standalone.....

Ill most likely get it from Ebay and Im going to go with the latest version of the Megasquirt (Not the MegaSquirt II, the MS II is a add on to the new version of Megasquirt), Im not sure the name but if you dont already know there site is really helpful, Megasquirt.info, will tell you a lot about what you need to know and has downloadable settings. I dont know if they have a site they sell it on or what. But the stuff on ebay is sold by the guys that make it, so there no chance of getting ripped off. So good luck and keep me posted on how it does.

I heard someone a while back talk about and how he used in his Porche, he talked good things on it. Went to some of their sites, and read that some Scions, tC, had some problems because of the vvt-i and the drive by wire setup. But I believe some people got to use in various boxes.
