apparently (this is what I've been told a few times from the Subaru crowd) on the 2007 STI cylinder #4 has a fueling issue, whether it may be an electronic issue or an injector issue im not sure. A few STI's have come through and I've done a leakdown... sure enough #4 was where the blow by was apparent. Usually if you over rev a car you blow a rod or have a valvetrain issue.

Weird huh?

Looks like there was a reflash recall for the ecu, is it because of that I don't know.

If anything....I would hold onto my tC at least until the Toyota/Subaru car has been brought to life. I would buy an STI or Evo to put my kids in the back seat and have a fast family 4 door sedan. Even though they are a BEAST of a car on the tracks, when you break something in them...be prepared to spend twice the money to fix it as well as twice the cost in parts to mod it.

oh, sorry, i wasn't talking about that, i was talking about where you said you have two sti's with blown engines at the shop. was that a #4 cylinder problem? or was it something else?

but what i was saying was who rolls into the shop and says my 100% stock car blew its engine, and it wasn't due to operator error? either they're lying, and installed something wrong, ran a big shot of nitrous, or over-revved the engine or something. i am yet to see the story about how there are many subaru owners blowing engines for no apparent reasons.

Yea i just hopped on the Subie forums to do a little research. Seems as though the 07 STI motor has been pretty infamous for cracking ringlands, stock or modded. Doesnt seem to be consistantly cylinder #4 though.

One guy broke 2 ringlands in stock form within a short period of time and dealership rebuilt, broke again and went with a built motor. Drax you would have to ask the subie owners if they are lying, I wouldnt be able to tell you that. It funny though when you see a thread titles "yet another blown 07 motor"

One 07STI we have was #4, and it is stock. We are dropping in a built motor . The other one I know the guy beat on it, we are waiting for a used motor.

i am still cruising that forum, lots of blown motor threads, modded and stock. Here is a collective thread i ran into

yeah, and i have no doubt that a car company can make a bad engine. the first generation porsche boxster's were notorious for them. basically the CEL stood for "Change Engine Light" because of some manufacturering defect that seemed to inevitably occur and require replacing the entire engine regardless of how the car was treated.

wow that sux lol. that thread link I posted is set up constructively in the way that the posters have present detailed info on their failure and car mods, mileage...etc. It does seem as though the 07 is a problem. It is a very informational thread.

On another note, my other friend/customer has a nice Evo 8 he auto-x's and time attacks, and just bought a new STI for his daily.... must be nice

and thats because you took it to someone who should not have touched it to begin with... if you had a good engine/car builder, good tuner, and scion/toyota hell ALL AROUND knowledgeable people working on your car... you would have had a 12 second car easy by now... so stop blaming the car... sorry chad ur muh boy but lets keep ____ real.

3 heads in the last 3 years and 2 engines.. all built from my rinky dink game room on an engine stand and some helms manuals with tools i picked up from sears and the only time i ever had an issue was lugging the dam motor up and down the stairs of my house to and from the machine shop, balancing, and to install it cuz im a small fry... the only reason the first motor went was because of toyotas poor packaging of the wrong bearing and those 2 old heads gone because the one after was just as good if not better upgraded...

lolz...so now you get tears thinking of selling it? how many forums is it for sale on? five? sounds like your really wanting to get rid of this and buy an over rated car. being an import tuner to me is about bringing something new to the table. how many people on here are actually trying new stuff? theres probably 10 of us. how many evo drivers have the same pos setup? hundreds. cory made a good point....if you want a call girl get an evo. but if you want a **** star....keep the tc. itll pay off in the end man....ive contemplating parting out my car many times, only to realize how stupid it is. i have a backyard setup that will spank alot of kits on the market, and i payed less then half for everything. grab your pair of ***** and man up chad. if a girl doesnt like the sound of a sexy twin disc setup....she doesnt deserve the cizock...end of story. explain to her how much time, sweat, blood, and with you...tears has gone into the car. then tell her if shes lucky she will get the same kind of attention.....wow i need to stop smoking weed....i go all philosophical on my _____s

Since I'm a huge fan of WRC, STI>Evo. The Evo seems so much more like a street car than off-road vehicle. Either way, both are overweight.

Vette's only weigh around 3100lbs. S2000's are actually considered chunky, even at 27-2800lbs, mostly because the Miata is only 2400lbs. But look at the older Evo's. The 3/4 were about 2700lbs, the new EvoX is damn near 3600lbs.

I think s2k has a pretty good power to weight ratio.. Miata is light but doesnt put much power either and is so tiny lol..

Boosting that motor is a waste of money. LS1 swap FTW.

And Ace, the S2K does have a great power:weight ratio, and it helps a lot that the car has a 49/51 weight distribution, but compared to other cars, it's a chunky one, especially considering how 'basic' it is. Now a boosted S2K is another story. Toan from PTuning has an S2K that has a better power:weight ratio than a new Z06 lol.

Do a Youtube search on RB26 Miata vs Turbo Civic. I don't know....I'm liking the RB Miata combo more than LS1 Miata. Just seems "right" to me...hehehee

Hater....LOL. Only thing that turns me off about American V8, is that they all sound the same.
