Default need quick help, civic turbo question (i know i know)

this is for a friend of mine. does anyone know what can cause a turbo to stop from going into boost? he said that it was working fine and then the the engine started to overheat so he filled it back up with antifreeze and then it just stopped working all together. the car will not go into boost at all. it is in vac normal but when u get on it it just goes to 0 and will not go into any boost at all. im at a loss here, ive checked all his vac lines and they are all still attached. does anyone have any idea here? i need an answer asap if possible. it is a 7th gen honda civic, not sure exactly what year. thanks everyone!

i did not see any, although i did not really get down and look that well, could an exhaust leak really cause you to not go into boost at all?

Check all the piping coming in and out of the turbo. Sounds to me like the boosted air is leaking out of the piping somewhere. I know I had this issue and it scared the ____e outta me! Found the problemo and it was an easy fix. now she's purring like a kitten

i was just wondering if the wastegate was opening, or was stuck.

exhaust gasses go out, spin the turbo, regulated by the wastegate, then boost is sent to the tb and regulated by the bov. Something in that line isnt right. Eighter the waste gate is stuck open and bleeding off all the boost, or its all leaking out somewhere on its way to the tb. You said it holds vacum tho so that would seem to say there isnt any leaks from the air filter to the engine, so it has to be on the exhaust side. Im thinking bad wastegate.

try taking off the air filter. when i first got my turbo i put the air filter on too far and it was choking off the airflow so bad that my car would only make like 3 psi.
